"I didn't know you had a knack for espionage" she whispered in the dark
"I have my surprises" he responds in kind
They dwell in the darkness of their environment, their pupils large as they adjust to the shadows of one another. They comfort their quiet companion deep in the unknown. A touch of the hand. A breath against skin.
"I wish I could see more of you" he admits
"Im glad you can't" she replies, a tremble in her vibrato
"Don't say that"
"It's the truth"
It was unlike him to lie, to cheat, to find himself creeping about impenetrable fortresses. But when it came to her, he had know of her survival. For many years he had reached out into the darkness hoping to find her but it wasn't until she had been pulled even deeper into the inky blackness by a ruthless giant, did she reach back.
"Forgive me"
"For what?"
"For not protecting you"
"It's not your job"
"I failed you"
"You can't keep begging for…
"Please!"
His plea bounces off cinder block and loneliness.
"Sam"
His name. Whats in a name? Was it a plea? Was it a question? Her hands reach for him and pull. He moves forth. Fingers awkwardly clasping his face until so unsure, so shaken, so new, like children in a schoolyard they allow their lips to meet.
An invitation.
"Sam" she says once more
"Oh lord" he shudders
The taste of their tears are seasoning on their tastebuds. The warmth of another, a solace in the never ending winter. His thumb smears another droplet of grief against her cheek.
"Why?" she pleads "Why did I allow him to break me?"
"Oh Galina"
A name. What's in a name? A prayer? A dream?
His hand runs across her scalp, up and against stumble, scars and shame. She emits a cry of defeat. Her agony bouncing off metal and longing.
"My beautiful Galina. You can't break fire."
A promise.
She continues to weep as she holds him tightly and explores his warmth. Her weeps turn into sighs, her sighs turn into moans and she soon she explodes into ecstasy.
Soon she must slip away to her confinement and him to silence. But for now in the darkness they kindle the unbreakable fire.
