Chapter 1

Welcome to my first RWBY fanfic. For those of you coming from my previous story, don't worry. That story is not dead. it's taken a small hiatus. I still need to figure things out and I'm trying something new IRL and it's taken up more of my time. I was inspired to write this story after playing the visual novel JPDE. This story will take many elements and characters from that visual novel but with my own twists and plots. Team RWBY's adventures will take place behind the scenes and much like the visual novel, my story take place during season 2. I may change the title and rating later on.

"Are you sure you about this?"

"Yeah. And what of my request?"

"You'll receive it when the time is right… I'll ask you again, are you sure you want this? You might never return home…"

"…When you came to me you sounded sad. You said you needed my help. I can't turn my back on someone asking for help. And besides it sounds like a lot of fun. I know I'll see my home again one of these days."

"Thank you…"

Penny's POV

"Good morning!"

"Uhm, good morning."

"Good morning, mister. You have a nice dog!"

"Ehm, thanks?"

"Good morning!"

"Gods, girl! How can you still be so energetic at this time of the day?!"

"Uhmmm… I had a large breakfast!" *Hiccup*

Today is another great day! I mean, have you looked at the sky? A slight breeze, an acceptable amount of cloud cover, and not a single Grimm insight! Which is good, because they have a very high chance to ruin your day just by being in your immediate vicinity.

For me, though, it's an even better day than for most. I mean, not that I have collected data on how the day is going for every single inhabitant of Vale City.

Even so, I'm confident I'm having a better day than most, because I recently made new friend!

They're all girls enrolled at Beacon Academy. We can't really see each other because... Well, I was told not to. And only one really said she was my friend, but the other girls were her friends, so maybe the transitive property applies?

Still, I made at least one new friend! Life is better when you have lots of friends, so, since I have four new friend or 25 percent of that, it's safe to speculate I'm having a better day than most!

I can't wait to see how my day will continue, with such a great start-

"OH MY GOD, WHAT'S GOING ON?!"

Oh, I didn't notice, but while I was computing about my day, the bustle of the bustle of the city street had died down. Everyone has fallen mostly silent, barring a few murmurs, and they're all staring and or pointing at the sky.

The sky had turned pitched black. Strange considering its still morning. I can hear the roar of thunder in the clouds. I can see lightning dropping from the sky. I can only surmise, this weather phenomenon is a thunderstorm. I have never heard of a thunderstorm happening so suddenly. The lightning appears to be fixated on one location.

Ooooh, I hope the market isn't too crowded this time of day… Huh? The shape of that lightning bolt, is that… a Dragon?

My POV

I slowly open my eyes and I let out a big yawn. I am greeted by the rays of the sun. Weird, I don't remember leaving my curtains open. And come to think of it, I don't remember taking a nap outdoors.

I look around my surroundings to see I'm in some sort of crater. Huh… This sure doesn't happen every day?

I look up to see there's a girl watching me. She's directly in front of me, sitting on the rim on the crater I'm in. She's looking down at me with big, green eyes, orange hair and freckles on her face that frame a pretty smile. She's kinda petite and wears cloths that compliment the colors of her eyes and hair.

"Hey! My name is Brian Baxter!" I greeted her with a smile.

"Salutations, Brian. I'm Penny. Are you a bad guy?" She asked.

"Nope. Don't think so."

"Ah, good! There was a high probability you were some kind of attacker, but I'm glad that wasn't the case, Brian."

"By the way Penny, you wouldn't happen to know how I ended up here, would you?"

"I didn't see everything, but between my observations of the lightning strike and finding the point of impact there was only a time lapse of 37 seconds. It would have been very hard. It would have been very hard for someone to transport you here without being seen. My guess is: You were inside the lightning bolt when it impacted."

"A lightning bolt?" I climbed out of the crater and stood on my two feet.

"Where is this?"

"You're in Vale City, capital city of Vale! Specifically in an alley in the market district area. It doesn't like much right now because your arrival vacated it."

"Vale? Never heard of it."

"That peculiar, since it's a very important place… maybe you've heard of the other countries? Beyond Vale, there's the nation of Vacuo to the west, Atlas to the North and Mistral to the east. That all of Remnant."

"I don't know any of those places. And what's this about a lightning bolt?"

"Before I found you, a Lightningstorm suddenly occurred, it dispersed as quickly as it came, but before it did, a particular lightning bolt shaped like a dragon struck the ground. I believe you came from that lightning bolt."

"Well, that's strange. What was I doing in a lightning bolt anyway?" I asked myself, crossing my arms.

"We shouldn't linger around here for too long. The officers here might be nice, but sometimes they don't understand-"

"5-O?! Something tells me they won't be too happy I unintentionally damaged this area. I gotta get outta here!"

"Sorry for the invasion of personal space!"

"Wait, What?!"

Penny, the petite, gentle girl I just met lifted me over her head like I was some sort of ragdoll.

"AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

"This should be a safe distance."

Penny puts me down, but I still feel dizzy. That was scary but… fun at the same time. Like a roller coaster. Wait, have I been on a roller coaster before? Yeah, maybe I have?

"You feel better now?"

"Yeah, thanks for the ride."

Suddenly, my stomach growled. I guess I didn't have breakfast before coming here.

I laughed nervously, holding my stomach." I guess I haven't eaten anything yet. But I don't have money."

"Oh, I can cover that for you!"

"You mean it? Seriously? Penny, if there's anything I can do to repay you just let me know."

Penny suddenly got all shy. "Well… There is something… But I don't want to impose."

"That's my line Penny."

She muttered something under her breath.

"What was that? I didn't quite catch that."

"…Could you be my friend?"

"Is that it?"

"It's fine if you don't want to…"

"But Penny, I thought we were already friends." I said with a smile as I place my hands on the back of my head.

"Really?!"

"Yeah-"

I couldn't finish my sentence due to Penny tackling me to the ground. Ugh! Man, she's really heavy!

"Oh, I'm so happy! I made a new friend!"

"P-Penny! Air! I need air!"

"Oh! I'm sorry! I got carried away!"

"I noticed. It's a big deal for you isn't it?'

"Well, you see… I don't have many friends. And those I have, I can't see very often."

Well that's unfortunate. I can't imagine why such nice girl like Penny doesn't have many friends. She must have certain circumstances… And for some reason Penny seems vaguely familiar.

Penny and I went to this shop on main street to get breakfast.

"Do you like it?"

"You bet I do! I don't know what this pastry is called but it really hits the spot especially with milk!"

"I'm glad you're feeling better now."

"Well, I still have no idea where I am or how I got here, but at least the first person I met was a pretty girl."

"But I thought I was the first person to locate you!"

"Uh… Penny? I was talking about you."

"You… You think I'm pretty?" Penny said with a blush.

"Yeah, sure, why not."

"No, I mean… I know going by common aesthetical standard I may be considered attractive. It's just… No one has ever said that to me. Thanks. Um… you're pretty too."

"Okaaaay- WHOA!"

"Brian!"

I'm being pulled through the air by some kind of purple energy. If I didn't know any better I'd say this is telekinesis! SUPER COOL! Wait! Now's not the time to be excited! Who's doing this?!

"And what do we have here? You gave me a lot of trouble, young man. What kind of trick were you using to mask your aura?" A blond woman with glasses who I believe is the one levitating me, said.

"My what?"

"Hmm… no matter. We'll have plenty of time to uncover that"

"Please, stop!"

Penny grabbed the blond woman's wrist.

"Please let him go! He's done nothing wrong!"

"Unhand me this instant, young lady."

"I'm terribly sorry but I can't do that!"

"Because?"

"Because you're going to knock Brian unconscious and take him to an unknown location!"

"That was my intention, yes."

The woman is frowning pretty intensely. She snatches her hand away from Penny's grp and Penny steps inbetween me and my attacker.

"And I guess if you're so eager to share the blame, you can share in that fate as well."

Whoa! This woman isn't messing around. I can feel she's really strong. And Penny wants to take her on?!

"No, Penny! Get away!"

"Don't worry, Brian… I'm combat-ready."

What the- I feel Penny giving off a similar vibe.

"Are you now?"

Huh? Suddenly I hear a phone.

"Of all the times…"

The woman brings down her free hand to one of her pockets, taking out some kind of smart phone.

"Ozpin, I'm in the middle of something."

"You're in the middle of starting an international incident." The person on speaker said.

"Excuse me?"

"The young lady who's so bravely confronting you is a special protégé of the general."

"Salutations."

"She's still interfering."

"I noticed, Glynda. But does the young man look or feel like a threat at all?

The woman stares at me. I simply wave my hand at her while smiling sheepishly.

"He does seem rather inoffensive. But I can't just let him go if he's involved with the lightning storm in the market."

"Of course not. What you can do, though, is bring both of them to me."

"Which I was going to do?"

"By asking them to come along, Glynda. I may understand your irritation at having to repair the streets but I don't think these children deserve an iron fist because of that."

"…We'll be right there."

Glynda released her telekinetic hold on me and I fell to the ground. Ow.

"What's your name, child? And I believe you are called Penny, young lady?"

"Yes, ma'am! He's Brian."

"Brian Baxter, nice to meet you ma'am."

"My name is Glynda Goodwitch. I'm a staff member at Beacon Academy and-"

"Beacon Academy? Then maybe you know Ruby?"

Glynda sighs."Of course someone who stands up to a full fledged huntress would be an acquaintance of that girl. Please follow me to my transport. The headmaster wishes to talk to the both of you."

"You're not going to detain Brian anymore, then?"

"That depends on him and his actions of course. But I guess we should give him the opportunity to save himself."

"Thank you, Miss Goodwitch." I said.

That's all for now. The next chapter will be out soon and don't worry about my other story I'm still working on it.
