There she was. The mudblood. Sitting on this secluded staircase crying her eyes out over something Weasley had said. As he watched her from where he stood he saw that they were tears of anger not style="mso-spacerun: yes;" /spanNot sure whether or not he should make himself known to her, he began to step away.
Just as he reached the doorway she saw him. "What are you doing?" she yelled, obviously annoyed that he had been watching her. "I was just leaving" the blond muttered under his breath. He noticed the disheveled state she was in no longer as poised as she had been entering the ball. "What did Weasley do this time?" he asked with his usual sarcastic smirk. "Shove off Malfoy; it's none of your business!" she shouted as she stormed out of the room.
He stared after the witch in amazement not sure how wonder boy and his ginger sidekick put up with her. As he walked back to his dormitory, he found himself wishing he had stopped her exit and at least asked her if she was alright.
Walking up the staircase to her dormitory Hermione thought of Ron and decided to not bring the argument back up the next day. Later that night the other girls came back from the ball talking about how wonderful it had all been. As soon as they saw Hermione they started bombarding her with questions about Krum.
After a few days, once the shock of her going with Krum had worn off, everything had gone back to normal. Aside from Malfoy that is, he seemed to be constantly looking at her now. Every time she caught him at it instead of looking embarrassed, he simply smirked at her and forced her to look away. It was quickly starting to annoy her. her temper with the boys seemed to become even shorter than it usually was.
She considered confronting him about it, but knowing Malfoy, he would definitely try and her questions back on her.
They were in potions a couple of days later and Hermione had been paired with Ron to make the potion they were working on. It happened to be a very difficult potion, called Acriasthenia. It was a poisonous potion when used incorrectly, but quite handy when used right. Hoping Ron wouldn't mess it up as he usually did, she kept quite a close eye on him; and it was a good thing she did. "No Ron! Don't put that in yet." I hiss at him while grabbing his wrist. "What?" he says, "it's what the book says-" cutting him off I snap, "you skipped a step." Over and over he keeps making mistakes all through potions.
At the end of potions we, miraculously thanks to Ron, we have a decent batch of Acriasthenia. As Professor Snape walks by Malfoy, he looks into his cauldron and says, "Very good Draco, you really do have your mothers hand with potions." Malfoy looks over to me and smirks in a pleased manner. I simply glare back at him.
"Why does he always favor Draco?" Harry said with a scowl that night at dinner. Ron, his mouth to full to answer nodded vigorously in agreement. "Oh really you two, do you expect Snape to be fair to you?
Still annoyed with Ron for doing poorly she was snapping at them for anything. "Does she really have to explain everything to weasel?" said a voice from behind them. The boys both spun around while Hermione continued to eat. "Shove off Malfoy!" they said in unison. Smirking he walked out of the great hall.
