The former king of Atlantis sat on his bed, his gold eyes staring down at the ground as he tried hard to fight back his tears. All of his memories of his years in Atlantis were flowing through his head. All the heartbreak the Orichalcos had caused weighing down hard on the man. He had killed his own wife and his own daughter had died as well.
A series of knocks sounded on the front door, causing the Atlantian to be startled back from his memories. He wasn't expecting any vistors. Slowly he stood from his bed and silently walked to the front door, yanking it open only to be startled by the person standing outside the door. Mokuba Kaiba.
The youngest Kaiba smiled shyly, his hand moving to rub the back of his neck. "S-sorry for the surprise visit." He mumbled. "I haven't seen you for a while." Dartz stared down at the young boy and sighed softly. "It's fine, little one." He said softly, reassuring his boyfriend that the surprise visit was fine.
The former king had been dating the youngest Kaiba for a few months now. Dartz had gone to visit the CEO of KaibaCorp only to be greeted by Mokuba. The young boy had taken the Atlantian to his room and confessed his feelings. Dartz had been shocked but, upon noticing the boys hurt expression, had reassured him that he also held feelings.
Now as Mokuba stood on the doorstep he felt relieved that someone was here on this day, the day of his daughter's birthday. The thought caused tears to form in his golden eyes but he forced them back. The black-haired Kaiba noticed this, his eyes widening. "Dartz, what's wrong?" The older man shook his head and tried to force a reassuring smile but Mokuba wasn't buying the act. "What's going on?" he asked again. Dartz, again, shook his head. "N-nothing, little one. Come in." Mokuba sighed softly but walked into the house.
The couple walked back to the former king's room. Dartz sat on the bed while Mokuba stood in front of him with his arms crossed. "Will you please tell me what's wrong?" he pleaded. Dartz reached for his young boyfriend, his golden eyes dull. "Come here." He whispered. Mokuba nodded his head and walked closer, only to be pulled into the Atlantians lap. The young teen wrapped his arms around his older boyfriend, trying to reassure the former king that everything was fine. Dartz finally broke down, tears falling down his face as he sobbed almost silently.
Mokuba was confused on the sudden action but kept his arms wrapped tightly around Dartz, trying to calm the older man. "Shh, it's alright.." he whispered soothingly. Dartz continued to cry, holding the younger Kaiba tightly. "T-today.. was h-her birthday.." he stuttered. Mokuba knew what Dartz was speaking of, his eyes widening. His daughter..
The young teen placed his hand on the older man's cheek, lightly stroking. Dartz leaned into the touch, slowly relaxing into his young boyfriend. The young teen smiled at the reaction and moved his other hand to stroke the Atlantians long light blue hair. The former king closed his golden eyes, sighing softly.
Mokuba continued his actions, trying to calm the older man down. He hated seeing his boyfriend this distressed and depressed. It hurt the young teen. After what seemed like a lifetime passed Dartz opened his eyes and pecked the younger boys forehead gently. "Thank you, little one." He whispered softly. Mokuba nodded and rested his head on the former kings chest, nuzzling him gently. "Of course, Dartz." He murmured. "I love you, Mokuba. I love you too, Dartz."
The couple clung to each other the whole day, putting memories away.
