Kiran gazed at the twenty orbs in front of him. Surrounding him were several other units he had acquired over the months. Fjorm, Alfonse, Anna, and Sharena stood next to him, excited to see what they would get with these twenty lustrous orbs.
He took five of them, raising them in the air. They vanished, and five different spheres glowed in the air like fireflies - his choices.
Two were blue, one was red, another was green, and the last was colorless. Since Kiran wasn't looking for anything in particular, he was happy about the selection he had in front of him.
"Which one should I choose first?" Kiran turned around, genuinely curious about which sphere the allies would want to pick first.
A chorus of mixed replies ensued, but he heard the word 'blue' more than other other color. So he chose blue. The summoning stone glowed and it slightly lifted, stirring the dust around it. Everyone took a deep breath.
"Must be a four or five star," Anna whispered, and everyone who heard nodded. A bright flash lit the air, and there was Shanna with sky blue hair and a brilliant, sunny smile.
"My name's Shanna! It's nice to meet you!" Shanna went over to Kiran, who just stared at the four star badges.
"Nice to meet you." Kiran made a tight smile, unnoticed by the sprightly flier. Older units who had been there since the beginning understood Kiran's disappointment - it was harder to gain orbs, and every four or three star was one less five star to find. And after this summon, it would take weeks to summon again to build the most effective teams.
Kiran chose green next after getting a consensus of the units around him. Shanna stood off to the side, confused as she saw at least three more Shannas standing around, some with three bronze star pins or others with four silver star pins like hers.
The summoning stone glowed again, and this time, it didn't lift up. Kiran and the other sighed.
"Grr... I'm Bartre - warrior type, if you can't tell. Bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh! Yahhhhhh! How'd that sound? Burly nuff for you?" Everyone pinched their noses (even the other Bartres that had been summoned before).
"I said the exact same thing... must've been embarrassing." one Bartre groaned.
The newly summoned Bartre was still flexing his muscles and wildly swinging his axe around.
"Come on! How's this for ya?"
"Good, good." Kiran pushed him aside. "Next up, the colorless one!"
The large stone lit up for a moment, shifted, and a bright light filled the air.
And there was Takumi!
Kiran and the others' faces lit up in delight.
"I'm Takumi. Why are you all staring at me like that?"
"FIVE STAR TAKUMI!" Sharena screamed and high-fived Alfonse, while Takumi just stared in confusion.
"Let's check his potential."
A stat board lit up, and upon reading it, Kiran groaned. The three main teams looked on and sighed. Nino tugged Kiran's sleeve and told him that it would be okay.
A speed bane? And an HP boon?
WHAT?!
WHAAATT?!
"What is going on?" Takumi snapped, still next to the summoning stone.
Another Takumi pushed to the front of the crowd, seeing the other Takumi's eyes.
"Ah, another me." he noted, before looking at Kiran's face. "Bad IVs?"
"What the hell are IVs?"
"You! You're bad IVs! Get out of the way, imposter!" Takumi dragged the dumbfounded Takumi off (which by the way had down to speed and up to resistance).
"What? Me? Imposter? You! You must be a disguise! Don't tell me you're also some damn Nohrian scum in disguise!"
After the first Takumi had dealt with the new Takumi, Kiran returned to the summoning stones. One blue stone and one red stone remained.
"Red or blue? Your pick, everyone."
"Blue!" New Shanna yelled.
"All right, red it is!" Kiran decided.
"What?"
Henry chuckled.
"Henry, no crow puns. I swear I'll stuff you into Halloween Henry's coffin if you do."
"Nya ha ha! That would be super fun!" Original Henry cackled. "But... I don't have any crow-y puns."
"If you just tried to make a pun, it didn't work." Tharja muttered darkly (as always).
Kiran ignored the bickering and raised the red stone in the air. Merging with the summoning stone, a bright light filled the air after it had lifted off the ground a bit. Many held their breath in anticipation as the light subsided.
Plain old Chrom appeared, and a line of Chroms glanced at each other.
"An abundance of Chroms. Come on! Give me someone I don't have!" Kiran sighed, taking the last orb. "This one better give me something great."
And up went the last orb, embedding itself in the stone, causing it to lift up for just a second. With a bright column of light shooting into the sky, Kiran shielded his eyes for a moment before spotting the new hero at the large gray stone.
"It's Sigurd! Five Stars!" Kiran heard Nino gush. "This is awesome!"
"We've never gotten Sigurd before. Sure he'd make a great addition to the team," Sharena noted. "And a really great friend as well! Right, Alfonse?"
"Yeah, Sharena."
Kiran took one long look at the stats board in front of him and couldn't conceal his blanch.
Oh, no... A Res boon? And an Attack Bane? No, no, no... NOOOOO!
"NOOOOOO!" Kiran screamed, slamming the stat board in hopes it would change. No such luck, obviously. Sigurd, just like the newly summoned Takumi, raised an eyebrow.
"I'm sorry. Did I do anything wrong?" Sigurd asked cautiously, watching Kiran's distressed state.
"You! Bad IVs!" Takumi shouted. Hinoka had to pull him aside to prevent the angry archer from assaulting the confused horseman.
"It's all right, Kiran. It's not the worst summon we've seen, right?" Chrom pointed out optimistically.
"I suppose." Kiran mumbled, and still felt like screaming. "It's just a little disadvantage. I'm sure we can still have some good use for them. We can merge the new Takumi and find some way to even out those bad IVs on the Sigurd, I guess."
Everyone slowly dispersed, leaving the Askran heroes, Kiran, and his main team. Kiran just slumped to the ground, while Nino was desperately trying to cheer him up.
"This really sucks..." Klein sighed, sticking an arrow into the ground. "The last few summons weren't good... why are orbs so hard to get now?"
"Well, what are we waiting for?" Nino asked. "We can only get more orbs if we fight, right? Hopefully I can find Linus and my other friends! There's always a next time, right? I think next summon will be the best one!"
"But this summoning thing's all on chance. We could just get terrible units again..."
"Don't think that, Kiran." Brave Lucina responded. "You can always get good heroes as well. You got the four of us, right? Which means of course you can get many more, as long as we try hard. You have to challenge your fate! Believe you'll get better units!"
Kiran slowly got up. "That's right. C'mon team, let's get going."
He felt a little better, but still bummed out by that crap summon. Too many of those disappointments had happened already, and he knew there would be many more like that.
Perhaps next time will be better.
AN: Hope you enjoyed this. I got plenty of crappy summons like this (I just summoned last night and I got three 3* units and two 4* units - giant disappointment as I was hoping for at least one of the spring heroes. And not only that, I only got red units, which sucked badly but since I don't spend money on the game, it is in my best benefit to go through the entire summoning session so I can save up those scarce orbs).
Please comment! AND ONE LAST THING: I'm thinking about making a Fire Emblem Story of my own. I was wondering how you would think of such an idea, so please go to my profile page and answer the poll. Basically it's just asking about whether you would read the story or not and how you would want it to be (realistic or not?). Your opinion matters! If I get more support for it, I'll start posting the story during the summer and I would probably post a chapter per week. I'll be writing it ahead of time so you guys wouldn't have to wait. And also, I'll be making up some characters... Maybe PM me with some good names? And, I'll be changing my profile picture to a silhouette of one of the characters as a sneak peek!
Thank you everyone, and hope to hear your opinion!
