A.N. I love supernatural and hope to demonstrate that in this piece by catching the character's personalities. I am using the current season as a guideline for the plot, but have my own twist on an episode I would love to see aired.

All the characters are owned by Supernatural.

Hope you enjoy! R & R so I can improve my work as I continue.

Supernatural- Fight Against All Evil.

It had been weeks since Sam and Dean had heard from Cas. Periods like these had become familiar to the Winchesters since Lucifer had the influence of the angels and demons, heaven and hell, on his side. Despite being depleted in power, Lucifer had so many who vowed for his protection, making him nearly untouchable. This gave him the opportunity to search for his son, Jack, who had been missing to everyone, including the Winchesters, for weeks. This was where Cas had been, on the look out for Jack. He was the only possible solution to winning the war against Lucifer, a war which Sam and Dean were slowly losing.

"So, there is a case in Colorado, looks like a warewolf…heart missing, presumed animal attack. I was thinking we could check it out, take our minds of this whole Lucifer situation." Sam questioned after surveying an article on his laptop which was titled 'Third animal attack this week'.

Instead of a vocal response, Dean continued his previously planned walk to the fridge and grabbed a beer. Twisting off the cap and tossing it towards the bin, which it fell into, he sternly looked up to Sam," You seriously think working a case is going to win this war. I mean we have no leads on Jack, we have angels and demons on our asses whenever we leave the bunker, Cas has been god knows whe-"

"Hello Dean" a deep, but familiar voice uttered cutting Dean's rejection of a hunt short. Cas stood there, motionless, emotionless, but content that he saw the two brothers still in one piece. The human emotions, although once confusing to the angel, now graced him in belonging to the family. He was as Dean said many times before, their brother.

"Cas, where have you, did you find Jack?" Sam started leaning forward in his chair, pushing away his laptop, now showing full interest towards Castiel.

Stepping down the bunkers small, metallic steps, into a much wider room, Cas dug his hand into his trench coats pocket, pulling out what looked like a folded newspaper. "I'm not sure it is, but it could be a lead." His eyes darted from Sam to Dean, Dean looking at his beer aggressive, frustration evidently building on his face.

"No call, no text, damn it Cas, you could have been killed, we've been sat here like cold turkeys waiting for something, anything, and all you have is a lead that may or may not be Jack." With that he tilted his head back and dismissed the remainder of his beer. He heatedly placed the bottle on the side.

"I'm sorry Dean, but when I have all of Lucifer's minions (he raised his arms to represent inverted commas) on my ass I haven't got time to send a text or make a call."

Sam interrupted "Cas we worry, that's all, it would be nice to know that you're okay, especially when you're gone for so long." He brushed his hair back with one hand whilst closing his laptop with the other. You could see Sam's annoyance at Cas for his absence, but his relief that he was back at the same time.

"Well, what's this lead then" Dean said with his stern eyes looking directly into Cas', although it wasn't visible Dean was relieved more than anyone that Cas was back, even more so after their recent confrontation with Lucifer. Cas had been killed after escaping the alternate universe, he was followed by Lucifer and stabbed in the heart with an angel blade from behind. with his burnt-out angel wings gracing the landscape, Dean was traumatised by the scene. After burning his body, he believed that he would never see Cas again. Obviously hurting more visibly than Sam, he took this anger out on Jack which eventually led to Cas' resurrection from 'the empty'. This was why Dean was so distressed with Cas's lack of communication over the previous weeks, but also why he was so relieved to see him alive.

This was what it meant to be a Winchester, and Cas was considered one of them
