Hello wonderful people in the Internet! Do you know what day is today? It's July 2! And you know what happens today? Ruby's Birhtday! So happy birthday, you little fashion boy!

The story happens before the whole ORAS arc, since it hasn't ended yet, but the clothes they used are the ones in said arc, because I like them a lot.

This is the first time I do a fanfic for a character's birthday, so please excuse any failure in here.

English is not my first language, so I may have some mistakes, please help me with this if you found any.

BIRTHDAY BOY: RUBY'S EDITION

JULY 2

July in Hoenn wasn't the best time to visit said region. Hoenn was known for their tropical weather and, even though tourists still came throughout the whole year, the summer months usually went to extreme conditions, most of the time conditions that in any other region people would be frying eggs in the sidewalk.

Now, that was one of the things Ruby hated about Hoenn the first time (well, second, but he was just a child the first time and couldn't remember) he arrived: the tropical weather, even if that year summer arrived late because of the whole battle against Kyogre and Groudon.

However, as the time passed, Ruby began to get used to said thing, and also to the custom that he did along his friends each day since the summer solstice: they rotate their houses each day, turn on the AC and spent the day doing inside things. Obviously there were times in which Sapphire and Rald would skip the routine and went to investigate pokemon or adding more soil to Rald's collection, so they would leave Ruby and Wally alone to watch TV in peace.

That day was the first time they would skip the routine that year. Or so thought Ruby at first.

He woke up that day and looked at the calendar next to his nightstand, finally it was the day, it was his day, and no one and nothing would prevent it from being the best day of the year. He jumped out of the bed and changed really quickly, not forgetting a single thing about his look, obviously. He then rushed to the kitchen, only his mother was there with the special breakfast she did each birthday.

-"There he is!"- he heard his mother said in a singing tone -"The birthday boy!"-

-"Good morning, mom"-

-"Here's your special breakfast, sweetie"- the mother hand him the plate -"That had a problem at the gy, but he told me to congratulate you..."- Ruby kind of expected this, but he still felt a bit sad about his father not being there -"And give you your present"-

Obviously our protagonist took the gift from his mother's hand and proceed to opened it. It was another pair of running shoes since the ones he had been using previously didn't fit him any more.

Being the kind of guy Ruby was, he ate his breakfast and went out of his house, shaking with excitement, or something similar. That day, if they were still following their routine, they were suppossed to reunite in Sapphire´s place, and because she happened to live next door, he arrived in about 5 seconds.

He kind of expected a welcoming, and his 3 friends launching confetti, maybe Sapphire wearing one of the dresses he made her just because of the ocassion...

The first thing he saw after the door was opened was Saphhire in Torchic pajamas.

-"Well, look who decided to come"- she said instead of a greeting -"Hey, Rald! Ruby's here!"-

Emerald had being living on the Birch's house almost after 6 months had passed since the Battle Frontier thingy. They had become somehow like siblings, but Ruby still found it weird going in and see Rald puouring milk in his cereal or watching the TV as if he had always live there.

-"Ah, you came"- said their little friend from the sofa, he wore his own pajama, one that Crystal had made him after he moved in -"Welcome to Pokewood had just started"-

Of course Ruby thought They're acting like if today wasn't my birhtday to give me a surprise, but that ain't happening, there's no way that I...Holy Arceus! Is Marissa wearing those heals with that top?!

-"Holy Arceus! Is Marissa wearing those heals with that top?! Uh-uh, honey!"- he said in a loud voice and in a negative tone -"Move aside, Rald, I must see what Anastasia says about that attrocity"-

Welcome to Pokewood was this new reality show that air in Hoenn TV, it had everything that the Hoenn trio liked, so they watched it together, Wally just watched it because it kept his friends from battling each other for the remote control. They watched it every time it was on tv (even if it were reruns), but the new episodes aired in the morning once a week, about 8 o'clock.

Ruby remembered what he had come for an hour later, when the reality show had ended.

-"So...guys"- he said as he saw the two friends serving breakfast -"Don't you have something to do today?"-

-"It seems that it'll rain"- said the brunette as she looked into the window -"So dad said that today I'm free"-

-"Oh, great"- Ruby still thought that she was kidding -"And you, Rald?"-

-"Nothing"- he was already eating -"Hey, Saphh, pass me the marmalade"-

-"Wanna eat?"- asked Sapphire.

-"No thanks, mom made the special breakfast"-

-"Why? Is today something special?"- asked Emerald in curiousity.

-"Yeah, right"- Ruby laughed, but it was a forced one.

That laugh left the teens in an awkward silence, it wasn't normal for Ruby to be like that.

-"Okay"- Saphhire broke the silence -"We can go to the secret base after this, or do something else, since it's not that hot outside"-

-"It's not going to rain, I just came in and there wasn't a single cloud in the sky"- cleared the Charmer.

And just then a thunder was heard.

-"Guess you were mistaken"- pointed out Emeald.

Ruby tried to change the topic -"Where's Wally?"-

-"Check-up day"- answered both, the brunette and blond teens.

Ruby didn't understand, here he was, at 9 o'clock, on his birthday, with his two best friends, and none of them seemed to remember what day was, they acted like if it were a normal day of their routine. He didn't want to seem hurt, but he did felt like it, back in Jotho, none of his birthdays were spent with friends, so he felt like he was back there, after being in Hoenn for more than a whole year, he didn't like feeling that way.

So he went home early, Sapphire and Emerald haven't even finished their own breakfasts, but Ruby didn't care. His mother didn't ask anything, so she must have either seen his face or knowing him really well...or maybe her maternal powers stike again. He spent the time glooming his pokemon, which were giving him their greetings in their own way.

As soon as Ruby got out of Sapphire's house, she and Emerald quickly finished their breakfast (you can't work with your stomach empty) and get up from the kitchen table. They also thanked Popo, who had used one of her Weather Balls to change the weather.

-"Did you see his face?"- said the blond in a mocking way -"He really believed we forgot, am I a good actor or what?"-

-"S'not funny, Rald"- scolded Sapphire -"I really felt bad for him"- she took the phone and launched it towards Rald -"Go on, call everyone else, there're many things to do"-

-"Right"- Emerald dialed a number before covering the phone -"What do I have to tell them again?"-

-"Today, before 12 o'clock, secret base, bring a present"-

9:30

Still nothing from his friends.

Well, Wally had called him, but the conversation ended really fast

-"Ruby-san, I'm so sorry for not telling you earlier"- had said the guy -"But I was in my monthly check-up"-

-"Don't worry, I did was worried, but Sapph and Rald explained me everything"-

-"Oh thanks Arceus"- he heard Wally said -"I must arrive in about 10 minutes"

-"I'm not there anymore"-

-"What? Why?"- Ruby could imagine the green haired teen thinking about a big battle and fire all over the wrecked house.

-"They were cold and seemed to forgot what day is today"-

-"Is something happening today?"- Ruby didn't answer -"Ruby-san? Ruby-san? Are you there? Ruby-san?"- obviously said guy had cut off the call.

Neither the other Dex Holders had called him; he understood the Unova's or Kalos', they had just met them that year, heck he even saw it coming that the Sinnoh trio would forget, but the Jotho and Kanto seniors? His own trio?

9:30 to 10:30

By that time, Wally had already arrived at the Birch's. Wally, contrary to what must of you must be thinking, did forget the Charmer's birthday, but it was just in the exact moment of his call with Ruby.

-"So that's why he was so upset when I called him!"- he finally understood and felt bad about not doing earlier.

-"Still, good work"- Rald was setting the table in which all the food would be put -"That way, we'll have more time to prepare the place"-

Saphhire kept looking towards Little Root's direction as she set up some streamers. A worried look could be seen on her face.

-"Don't worry, Sapphire-san"- Wally's voice came out of nowhere, so it gave Saphhire goosebumps -"I'm sure when he comes, he'll be very happy"-

-"W,When who comes?"- Sapphire was nervous, even though she had met Wally for a long time, he was still very polite and seemed to know what was in your mind. Sapphire didn't want him to know what was in hers.

-"Why, you're worried about Ruby-san, aren't you?"-

Right in the spot Sapphire thought

-"Wel, obvious, he's mah best friend!"- Emerald cough -"Alongside you and Rald, of course!"-

-"Then there's nothing to worry!"- finished Wally with a bright smile. Seriosuly, in Sapphire's opinion, that guy could stop a war by just his mere prescence.

-"Okay, you two get to work, everyone else will come sooner or later"- Emerald was placing some balloons with Sudowoodo's help.

-"Yes, sir!"-

11:00

Ruby was going out of the grocery. Mother and her errands.

He thought it would be a normal day, but just as he was stepping out of the AC, he saw a well-known red cap.

-"Red-senpai?"- Ruby approached to said guy -"No, wait, senpais!"-

He was true, Red and the rest of the Kanto gang were there. Red was carrying a big bag, something unusual on him. The red senior became nervous as soon as Ruby approached.

-"Ruby!"- Red was trying to be his usual self, cheerful anytime and anywhere -"What are you doing here, with all this heat?"-

-"Mom's errands"- Ruby raised the groceries bag.

-"We must go now"- Yellow came by, pushing Red to move on.

-"What, are you on a date?"- said the red-eyed junior with malice.

-"You think that if they were on a date, we would be here?"- said a girly female voice.

-"Pesky girl"- muttered a brunette boy.

-"Obviously, Blue-senpai"- Ruby bowed to his master of fashion -"Yellow-senpai needs your help"-

Yellow pouted at the comment of her junior.

-"But we really need to go"- intervened Green, you could say that he came to save his friends -"Grandpa wouldn't want us to be playing"-

Obviously Ruby let his seniors go without asking them any questions. But he still found it strange that his seniors (Red wasn't the only one with a bag) had so many, well, bags, would they be staying for more than a day?

11:15

-"Senpais!"-Sapphire hugged Yellow as a greeting, then Red and so on. Yellow and Red had always been her favorite seniors, Red because of battles and Yellow because they had similar tastes.

-"Hey!"- greeted everyone.

Wally was trying not to faint due to the embarassment of meeting the other dex holders, he just did it in Ruby's, Sapphire's or Emerald's birthdays, so he really didn't know them much as their friends did.

-"Where's Crystal?"- asked Emerald.

-"Dunno"- answered Red, he had the habit of bending down when talking to small kids, due to Emerald's height, he did the same to the blond -"But we met him outside a grocery, naturally we didn't tell him any of this"-

-"And by we he meant Yellow, Green and me"- contradicted Blue.

11:20

Ruby couldn't believe his eyes.

-"Now...where did I had to go?"- a teenager with black hair, cap and googles was a few meters in front of him, any other person who didn't know him would mistook him from a punk or a womanizer or both, but he wasn't... well, maybe he was a bit of a womanizer.

-"Gold-senpai?"-

Said senior jumped because of the boy's voice and turned around, with a look that showed how he wished for Ruby not being right there and the dissapointment of realizing all that was happening.

-"Hey, Fashion Boy!"- Gold said, it was more than obvious that he was hiding something, even if he didn't had something like the Kanto seniors, but he had his usual backpack.

-"Did Prof. Oak asked you to come as well?"-

Gold didn't understand it was an excuse their seniors had used -"What? No, I came...for...because...Hey, you know where's Wild Gal?"-

-"Sapph?"- Ruby was suspicious at the sudden change of topic but acted as if nothing had happened -"Probably at her house, why?"-

-"Nah, for nothing"- Gold was already on his way to the Birch residence. When he was far away from a confused Ruby, and just stepping in Little Root, his pokegear rang. -"Hello?"- he said without checking the number.

-"Where have you been?!"- a girl almost sceam at the other side of the call.

-"Where have you been?!"- Crystal had had enough, they were late because of Gold's fault and now they couldn't finish decorating the place because of his fault too!

-"Where are you? I just got distracted a bit and you went off without me!"-

-"No, Gold"- Crystal had her pokegear being squashed between her shoulder and ear as she worked -"We left you because you were flirting! Now answer my question!"-

-"I'm at Little Root, from here I just need to go into the trees, right?"-

-"Yes, there's a cave deep inside, it shoudln't be difficult to find it"-

11:30

Someone must be kidding me

Why on Earth were the Sinnoh trio here? They were coming in his direction, but he hide in order to find out what they were doing in the region.

-"So...from here...we must go...that way!"- Pearl was leading, the map was in his hands and they seemed to be going to a new place for them, Pearl usually doesn't use maps unless he isn't familiar with the place.

-"How long will we be standing under the sun?"- complained Platinum, she had an umbrella but the heat is something difficult to bear with.

-"Not much, Missy"- Diamond took a donut and offered it to her -"Pearl will found the way, you'll see"-

-"Stop"- Pearl turned around.

-"What is it?"- asked Platinum.

-"Nothing...I felt like if someone was spying us..."-

Pearl was searching the area by sight, but he couldn't see nothing since Ruby had hidden in a bush. When he came out, the Sinnoh Trio had came out

11:40

-"Aren't the others late?"- asked Diamond while eating a cupcake.

-"Don't eat the food of the party!"- shouted Pearl in the background.

-"They apologized that they couldn't come, but they sent their presents"- clarified Emerald.

-"Why couldn't they?"- Platinum wasn't working, but she had paid for all the food, first class mind you, so no one complained -"It's one of our seniors birthday"-

-"Something about finding a Light Stone from the Unovas and some legendary pokemon destroying a town or something from the Kalos guys"- explained the blond.

-"Ah, yeah, legendary pokemon, those were the days"- remembered Gold.

-"Yeah, you almost forget that you could die while trying to battle them"- pointed out Green. Everyone, even the very own Green, laughed at the memories.

At other point of the cave, a brunette girl was getting impatient.

-"Sapphire, come out!"- screamed Blue.

-"NO"-

-"Emerald! That's not how a knot must be like!"- Crystal's mother insticts arose one more time as she helped Emerald with his attire.

-"WALLY, IT'S YOUR TURN!"- Sapphire screamed from the inside of...wherever she was changing.

11: 55

-"Ruby! Wally's here!"-

The Charmer went down the stairs just to see his friend in one of the attires he had made him. (Hehe, sorry, autor's note: Imagine Wally's outfit, please!)

He looked cool and the clothes make him look like he had all the confidence in the world, which was the reason why he made them like that.

Just seeing him made Wally want to tear up -"Ruby-san!"- he launched himself towards his friend to hug him -"I'm so so so sorry! Please forgive me!"-

-"What?"-

Wally pulled out of the hug -"I forgot your birthday!"-

-"Oh, that, don't worry at least you remembe..."-

-"Come on, we can still have lunch, my treat!"-

It took them 5 minutes to arrive at the secret base.

12:00

-"Sapph's secret base? Why are we here, Wally?"- Ruby groaned.

-"I forgot your present here, sorry"-

-"And why is so dark in here?"-

-"Oh that's because..."- as Wally turned on the lights, the other Dex Holders came out of their hideouts while confetti came out.

-"HAPPY BIRTHDAY RUBY!"-

-"B,But...what the..."- it was a nice surprise, but, well, it was a big surprise after all that had happened in that day.

-"Hahaha, you should see your face!"- mocked Emerald as he and Sapphire approached with the cake.

-"Rald, that's the tux I made you!"- the birthday boy said in disbelief -"You actually are wearing it!"-

-"Don't you have to say anything to the girl?"- teased Blue, she had to fix her hair because of that reason, she wanted to see an eulogy to the sapphire-eyed girl.

Ruby shrieked -"Sapph! Dress! You're wearing a dress!"- he pointed her while jumping around his friends.

-"Shut up and eat your cake"- muttered both friends in embarrassment.

It was a nice party, the best Ruby had in years. It was full of presents, laughs and unforgettable moments: like when Diamond and Silver started talking about Proteam Omega and then Red entered the conversation. Or when the girls and Ruby started talking about contests.

The best thing was that the Dex Holders would be staying for a few days, so the next day they would do sightseeing. But for that time, just the Hoenn Trio and Wally were in the secret base. They were enjoying the last bits of the party when Ruby remembered something.

-"Hang, on"- he said dramatically -"You two acted like jerks! You made me felt horrible and on my birthday!"-

-"Move on!"- screamed Emerald.

-"Yeah, you had a good time at the party right?"- continued Sapphire.

-"Besides, Sapphire-san was really worried about how you felt"- smiled the green haired guy.

-"WALLYYYYY!"-

Bonus:

=Conversation between Diamon, Silver and Red at the party=

-"Do you really like Proteam Omega?"- Diamond asked amazed to Silver.

-"Yes, it's the best anime I've seen"- Silver had an idea -"You want to see something amazing?"-

-"Yes!"-

Silver didn't act this friendly with anyone, even with Gold and Crystal he had his limitations, but seeing this child's face, he kind of forgot all of that.

-"Red-senpai, did you bring your team?"- Red said that yes with a protagonist smile -"Can you show him?"- Silver pointed Diamond.

When Red show them what Silver had asked for, Diamond began to act like an excited puppy.

-"Commander Venusaur!"- was the first thing he exclaimed, then he did the same with the other members.

Red laughed at his junior's excitement, Silver only smiled fondly. Then Diamond asked things that went from "Which is your best episode?" to "Why did you choose your team?". The juniors were sursprised to see his idol being a fan of the same anime as theirs; they even planed a marathon on Diamond's house.

Wow, you just read 3, 410 words of story (Bonus included), Congratulations! *applause*
