A Rose Blooms Again
(Note: This fanfic assumes Steven Universe takes place in the present day, making Steven's birthyear 2002.)

Beach City Cemetery is a well-kept gravesite about 2 miles away from the town it was named for. The cemetery houses several of the finest resting places in Delmarva. Some are decorated with flowers, while others have an elegy carved into a stone. However, they all pale in comparison to the grave in the center. Actually, it looks more like a shrine than a grave. The grand mausoleum has a large garden of roses at the exterior. On the inside, a life-size statue of the deceased sits where everyone can see it. Two stairways go down to a basement. That basement houses the coffin in which the person the grave is dedicated to rests. The body inside has been decomposing for two years now, so the body is no more than a skeleton. But that coffin is where our story begins.
October 24, 2092 - Beach City Cemetery
A coffin lies on a stone pedestal in a large mausoleum. For two years it has lain still. Suddenly, the lid begins to rattle. A bright, pink light that appears to be forming a body-like shape emerges from within. Located at its navel is a circular rose quartz gem with a pentagonal cut. A moment later, the light disappears, revealing a large, humanoid female with a white dress, long, big, curly hair and a yellow star around her gem. Her name is Rose Quartz, or more specifically, Rose Quartz Facet-1F0A Cut-2MB, but she abandoned that name a long time ago. When Rose falls to the ground, she looks around, wide-eyed and confused. "Where am I?" she thinks. "How this happen?" Then, she looks to her left. "Oh no," she says, for what Rose sees is this: a large, masculine skeleton reckoned to be 6 feet and 6 inches tall, with broad shoulders and a round skull. Above the corpse is a plaque, which reads this:
