Joey sat in his chair, lost in thought. It seemed that every one of his friends had someone to love. Chandler had Monica, and Ross had Rachel. That left him and Phoebe all by their lonesome.
Well, if he didn't find anyone before he was 40, he had that pact with Phoebe. They would marry, and would be happy with it. That still didn't make Joey feel any better. He wanted something to be between them. He didn't just want it to be a pact that they had.
No, Joey wanted it to be deeper with that. And with Phoebe, not anyone else. He wanted it to be with her, but he wanted a connection with it. On his end, he was definitely feeling it.
Like with Rachel, he had developed a hard-core crush on the bubbly blonde. He didn't exactly know when and where it had developed, but it had hit him hard when he had realized what he felt for her.
His apartment door opened, making him focus his attention on the very person that he had just been thinking about as she waltzed right into the room, slamming the door behind her. "Guess what?"
Joey shot out of his chair, unable to push away the excitement that Phoebe was exuding. He walked towards her, a grin spreading across his face. "You brought me a meatball sandwich?"
The smile that lit her face stayed put, as did her upbeat voice. "No!" Joey lost his smile. "This is something bigger! Guess! Guess!"
It wasn't aware to the both of them that they were migrating towards each other, as if gravity was pulling them in that direction.
"I give up!" Joey grinned again, throwing his hands up. God, she was beautiful. He wanted nothing more than to hug her hard.
Phoebe brightened up, prancing towards him. When she got to him, she enveloped him into a hug. "I like you a lot too!"
At that statement, Joey froze, his arms hanging limp at his sides. "Wha-"
"I heard from others that you liked me." She all but shouted.
His heart stopped and his hands instantly started sweating.
She must not have sensed this because she went on without waiting for a reply. "And I wanted to tell you that I liked you back! I just never thought that you liked me! Took you long enough!"
He had no time to react because Phoebe smashed her lips to his. His mind and soul fell into it, all thoughts focusing on the way her warm lips fit perfectly to his. It was all that he imagined it to be. His hands traveled up to her blonde hair and raked through the silk strands.
Breaths became labored as the kiss intensified, and everything but the other person seemed to have disappeared, only the contact made against each other felt.
Once they parted, each heaved out bated breaths, trying to regain the air that they lost.
He gazed into her blue eyes, love shining back at him. "When? How?"
"I don't know. I just felt it." Phoebe said, crashing her lips back to his. All she knew is that she loved the man in front of her, and always had. It was time to settle. She was tired of being the only one without another friend to love.
Truth was, she came into Joey's house without any idea that he had liked her. She liked him, and had for a long time. She woke up that morning and had the urge to see if he had the same feelings. This was planned. If he hadn't have returned her feelings, she would have said something like, "See! I can act just like you!" and they would laugh and shake it off.
If he had returned the feelings, well, they would be making out like they were now!
"YAY!" She shouted in her head.
