12-year-old Danielle-chan was having it rough. Her parents got divorced when she was 9 years old, her brother died a year ago, and she and her mom moved from Sunnyvale, CA to Orlando, FL, but didn't lget to go to Disney World that often. But there was something getting her through all of this. Touhou Project.
Ever since she was 8 years old, Danielle-chan loved Touhou Project. After stumbling across the McRoll on YouTube and finding Flandre's theme, she became a fan. She had all the games, listened to all the music, and read the books. She even had all the plushies and cosplay. Every day she would make up adventures for the plushies to go on, and made the Hakurei Shrine out of a cardboard box.
Danielle-chan also played on create swf, a Touhou slideshow creator from Walfas. She made endless stories about the characters.
She also wanted to meet ZUN and begged her mom to go to Reitaisai.
She even dressed up as Reimu Hakurei on her last visit to Disney World.
On this particular day, Danielle-chan had enough of her life. She went upstairs into her room with her computer, Nintendo 3DS, Touhou plushies, and Touhou books. She slammed the door.
She pulled down the shades and fixed her canopy. She propped her plushies on her bed, where her Reimu costume was laying, next to her Kirby plushies. She flopped down on the bed and held her Reimu and Satori plushies. She got out her notebook and pencil and jotted down Touhou stories and drew characters. "Why is Gensokyo fictional?" she asked out loud. She pulled up her covers and tucked herself, and all her plushies, under it. And then she drifted off to sleep.
Danielle-chan woke up under her covers and felt weightless. Her stomach was dropping. She heard otherworldly noises as she felt the bed fall. "Oh shit!" she yelled in her head as she clutched the Satori plushie. She didn't dare to take a peek above the covers for fear it was something scary. She reached for her Meta Knight plushie and held it close to her chest. She brought her Reimu and Marisa plushies closer to her. "Hey," she said to herself after a minute, "this is like a carnival ride." She smiled as she enjoyed the thrill of her bed falling, but still stayed under the covers and never looked above it. After a few minutes, the falling and noises stopped. Danielle-chan regained weight and her stomach returned to normal.
Danielle-chan let go of her Satori and Meta Knight plushies. "What the-?" she asked out loud. Her matress was gone. She rubbed her hand beside her and found out she was laying on dirt! "Is this a dream?" she said. "No, this is not a dream," a woman's voice proclaimed. "Who is that?" Danielle-chan thought to herself. Suddenly, she was overcome with bravery. She lifted up her covers and saw an ancient-looking Japanese town filled with cherry trees and houses. Next to her was a strange blonde woman wearing a purple dress and a white hat. "Oh my god," Danielle-chan said in surprise. "YUKARI!" she yelled as she ran over to the woman. "How do you know me?" Yukari asked, befuddled. Danielle-chan exclaimed, "I have all the Touhou games and books and CDs!" "So," Yukari said, "I heard you hated your family. You were bored." "And...and..." Danielle-chan stuttered, "I'm in Gensokyo!" Yukari replied, "Yes. You're in Gensokyo." Danielle-chan screamed in delight. "OH, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!" "Well, let's take you on the tour," Yukari told her. "Okay!" Danielle-chan responded.
