Written for the Marauder's Era Competition - Scenario: YOUR CHARACTER CELEBRATES (OR DOESN'T CELEBRATE) CHRISTMAS.
Prompts used: Snow, Mistletoe, Angel.
Character: Lily Evans.
Lily Evans rolled over in bed, ignoring the pounding at the door to the girls dorm.
"Evans, it's after breakfast and Christmas. Why aren't you up?" Came the annoying voice of Potter.
Ugh. How did he even get up the stairs?
"Because I'm tired," she shouted back.
She listened as the door opened, Remus Lupin stepping in. She was glad that James Potter had the sense to not come in himself, otherwise she'd have hexed him. Remus she could deal with. He wouldn't stare at her in her nightgown the way Potter did.
Remus was too busy staring at Sirius Black's too tight trousers to be looking at her.
"Remus?"
"Lily, we got a bit worried," Remus said, moving to sit on the end of her bed, before changing his mind at the last moment, standing up again. "I know you usually sit with Snape on Christmas day... but this Christmas..." he trailed off. Lily hadn't spoken to Severus Snape since his cruel words months ago. "We want to make sure that you still have an enjoyable Christmas."
"I'm fine by myself."
"Why did you stay?" Remus asked.
"Petunia," she answered, simply. "She hates me and wants her fiance there. My parents still invited me, but..." Lily shrugged and sighed.
"Yeah," Remus replied, understanding. "Look, Sirius and James might not be perfect, but after all the moronic things they do, they both do care. You know me and Peter care too."
"I know," she replied. "I just... I don't feel like celebrating."
"Look, James won't leave you alone until you at least try. We've got breakfast for you downstairs. Come and have something to eat, mess around in the snow with us - maybe have a snowball fight and then we'll warm up and have dinner. We'll leave you alone for the evening if you still aren't having fun."
Lily thought about the offer. The snowball fights had always looked like fun.
"On one condition," she replied.
"Name it."
"You keep Potter away from me with the mistletoe that I suspect he's got hidden someone on him."
"Sirius has mistletoe too," Remus whispered, leaning in.
"He can save that mistletoe for you, Remus," Lily whispered back, sliding out of bed. "Now get out. I'll be down in half-an-hour. I need to take a shower first."
...oOo...
"There you are, my Christmas Angel," James said, advancing towards Lily as she came down the stairs. Lily raised an eyebrow at Remus, who pulled James back.
"Lily is only spending the day with us if you don't attempt to kiss her under the mistletoe."
"What about if I kiss her without -"
"Nope. There will be no kissing Lily at all," Remus replied.
"Brilliant," Sirius said, snatching the headband with Mistletoe attached to it that had been perched on James' head. "Remus will look good in this."
Sirius reached over and placed the mistletoe on Remus' head and smirked. "Go on Moony, you're able to kiss anyone you want now, who is it going to be?"
Lily watched Remus glance at Sirius and blush. This Christmas might be fun after all.
