Summary: The shaping of Otmin into her weapon began when Jadis conquered Narnia.

A/N: This is set in my A Light in the Darkness universe and is part of my pre-winter story cycle, but this oneshot can be read as a standalone. Sequel to The Fall of the King, The Rise of the Queen. I highly recommend you read that one first. Prequel to The Sealing of Otmin.

The Shaping of Otmin

She looked across the battlefield, soaked with blood and littered with bodies, and a hint of a smile appeared. Finally. The scent of death banished the last painful remnants of that tree's scent and soon she would remake Narnia into a kingdom worthy of her presence. She set one hand on the shoulder of the young Minotaur calf standing beside her and leaned down to whisper in his ear, "Do you see, my young warrior? This is glory. This is what you were born to do, to crush your foes in battle as your father does now. One day, Otmin, you will succeed him as my general…but only if you prove yourself worthy."

With a flick of her wrist, she pointed her wand at the Human lying at their feet, the once king of Narnia. She smiled down at him then straightened, turning to Otmin's father, "General Rangi, give your sword to the calf and let him make his first kill a royal one."

The Minotaur grunted then handed his kopesh sword to the Minotaur calf, "Strike true."

Otmin looked up at her and she raised her chin slightly. It was good that he already knew to look to her over his father for orders. She smiled once more as the young Minotaur ended the life of Lew, once king, and she could see the bloodlust begin to shine in his dark eyes. Yes, this was what she had hoped for when she commanded Rangi to bring his only son to the battle. Otmin was hers now.

"General, send the Wolves and the Werewolves and all of the swift Talking Beasts to hunt down every last Human in Narnia. Kill them all. Humans have no place in Narnia."

"Majesty." The Minotaur bowed his great head, the steel tips of his horns glinting in the sun, and then he bellowed the orders.

The Narnian army that had attempted to resist her had fallen back or been captured. She glanced at the statues decorating the battlefield. She would have to send her servants to retrieve them once she established her palace. It would be a shame to just leave such a pretty collection out here where none could appreciate it. Gesturing for Otmin to follow her even as the young Minotaur still clutched the bloody sword, she swept toward the rest of her army. "Where are we going, your majesty?"

She stopped and turned back to the calf, leaning down to look in his eyes, "Now, my young warrior, we go to Cair Paravel. We must finish stamping out the line of Frank. And, Aslan cannot stop us for we have the right to be here. The Great Cat is powerless to stop me and no one must ever mention His name again, remember that, all right? I am the only power that matters in Narnia."

The calf nodded slowly, then straightened and bowed his head in clear imitation of his father, "Majesty." Then the bloodlust appeared in his eyes again as he raised the kopesh sword that was still covered in Lew's blood, "Do I get to kill again?"

Jadis smiled, the shaping of Otmin into her loyal weapon had already begun and when he took Rangi's place...oh what work would be accomplished. "Oh yes, you will kill for me many, many times."
