In the not so discreet orange convertible, Gabriel huffs for what Elle thinks is the fifth time. She sees him shift in his seat and fidget with the power windows in the corner of her eye.

"Are you gonna be sick? Should I pull over?" She asks, not exactly serious.

"Keep driving." He says, forcing himself to sit back in his seat. It's so hard to keep still after killing someone. Even a Normal like that pathetic guy with the worthless shotgun. Killing always gives Gabriel a rush, now he can't keep still.

It's quiet for a small eternity before he speaks again, in a motel lobby. "I don't think I can do this."

Elle is flipping her room key card over her fingers, her dexterity never fails to astound. Gabriel's sure she'd be good at playing piano. She steps away from the check-in desk and pulls him aside, away from curious ears. "There's only one room open here. You can sleep on the floor if you want." There's no way she'd give up the bed.

"Not that." Gabriel shakes his head. He then gestures between Elle and himself. "This. This Company Man stuff. It's not really for me. I've tried and at the end of the day, I end up killing people anyway."

"But you can control that now." Elle says slowly. She's not sure she likes where this conversation is going. She tries not to act scared. "You don't need to kill for powers. Like when you took mine." Her fingers spark a little and the room key card is destroyed. She's stopped him from killing her twice before. She hopes she's got a third time in herself.

"I don't think I can be satisfied, listening to someone else tell me what to do for the rest of my life. I follow one set of orders. Mine." He speaks so quietly, Elle steps closer to hear him until they're not even inches apart. "I know you feel the same way, Elle." His hand travels up her arm, past her shoulder, over her neck, and rests finally on her cheek. "I know you're just like me."

Elle can't help but stare at the intensity in Gabriel's dark eyes. She can't deny he's right, either. Especially when he's touching her like someone who could love her. She closes her eyes and nods.

"I want to do this with you," Gabriel tells her, his lips a breath away from hers. "But I need to know, Elle..."

Elle opens her eyes and wants to tell him anything he wants to know. Even who his real parents are.

"Would you kill for me?" Gabriel asks.

Elle is eager to pass his test. Without bothering to look away from Gabriel, she reaches her arm over her head and sends a fatal bolt of electricity into the motel manager's chest. She keeps it there, eyes on Gabriel the entire time. Elle only stops when she can smell sizzling, burnt flesh. As the body hits the desk, Elle answers "Yes."
