It was a dark and cloudy night. The sky was as dark as mud and the leaves blew around the trees like a tornado. Kalix wandered through the depressing streets of London like a lost puppy. Her long hair blew in the wind as she gripped the sides of her raggedy coat and wrapped them around her. She searched for a quiet alleyway that she could drift off in and drink all she wanted without getting scolded by Moonglow or Dominil. Dominil doesn't even care about me, Kalix thought. What would it matter to her if I drink? She was startled by an old looking homeless man coming around the corner dressed in clothes that were almost as tattered as hers.

When he opened his mouth to say something, Kalix observed that he was missing the majority of his teeth.

"Hey," he slurred, "Ya got a light?"

"No," Kalix muttered.

"Ah, c'mon, don't you have one to spare?" he pushed on, not taking no for an answer.

Kalix bared her fangs. His eyes widened and he ran off in fright. Kalix smiled and trekked on, looking for a place to spend the night.

A few minutes passed by and Kalix finally found a dark alleyway with some boxes at the end. Well, I guess I could use these as blankets, Kalix thought. She stumbled into the alleyway and plopped onto the crushed boxes and soggy cardboard. Kalix grabbed her old, tattered bag and searched for some alcohol. It was the only thing that could cure her nerves at this moment. She uncomfortably positioned herself in the damp alleyway and reluctantly changed into her werewolf form. It was the only thing that could keep her warm on a night like tonight. After hours of gazing at the sky, tossing and turning, and drinking, Kalix finally drifted off to sleep.

"Hey!" a loud voice shouted, awaking Kalix. She opened her right eye and saw a tall man with a stained apron standing over her. It was clear he was working for a restaurant of some sort. "What are you doing? You can't sleep here! Get up, go, go, go! Get outta here!"

Kalix jumped to her feet and hurried off. Behind her, she could still hear the sound of the man shouting at her to get away like she was some sort of sewer rat. She ran out of the alleyway and into the crowded streets. As someone who hated to be looked at and hated being around people, she scurried through the streets with her head down, looking like a scared mouse. Suddenly, she bumped into someone.

"Hey!" a familiar voice exclaimed. "I just went shopping!" Kalix looked up, she knew that voice. Sure enough, it was Vex. Her multicolored hair, stuck up in a mohawk, made her easy to recognize. Kalix didn't know anyone else who would have that crazy hair.

"Kalix? Is that you? Oh my god, we've been looking everywhere for you! Moonglow is so worried! I am too! That's why I'm out looking for you! And I found you, yay!" She jumped up and down, making people stare. Kalix blushed.

"I thought you went shopping," Kalix said flatly, eyeing the many bags that surrounded Vex.

"Oh. Well yeah of course I went shopping. There was a good sale!" Vex beamed. She smoothed out her electric blue Hello Kitty pajama pants and positioned the cuffs on her dark pink sweatshirt. Kalix rolled her eyes.

"Anyway, Moonglow wants you home. She's very worried about you! Oh, won't you come home?" Vex wined.

"That's NOT my home." Kalix looked in Vex's heavily lined eyes. The intensity of her stare made Vex look down to avoid her eyes.

"Then where is your home?"

Kalix stuttered. She had no home. The closest thing she had to a home was Moonglow and Daniel's flat.

"Alright…" Kalix gave in. "Let's go."

"Good!" Vex sighed. "Now can you carry some of these bags? There are way too many for me to carry all by myself. Plus I just got a manicure!"

Kalix sighed. She reluctantly stuffed the bags in her hands and walked down the street with the spikey haired girl.
