This is not a fairy tale...
And she knows this, fully realizes this … she doesn't want it to be a fairy tale anyway.
He is no prince and she has no desires to be a princess because that usually implies she needs help and she needs to be rescued.
She'd much rather do the rescuing, thank you very much.
This is not a love story...
And she's known this to be true from the very moment they had met as enemies.
He does not waste words with romantic sentiments and she does not pressure him to hear them because it is enough for her that he wants her and needs her.
It has to be enough anyway, until the time is right … if the time will ever be right.
This not about soul mates or true love...
And she's okay with this and she has accepted it, because she does not need words to know he desires her. She does not need reassurance to know that he cares for her.
Many would say that he isn't capable of loving someone anyway, because that would require him to feel and require him to show some semblance of compassion for another human being.
But she knows otherwise and that means more to her than fairy tale endings, true love or soul mates.
Just the act of knowing what is true and what is not true, seeing what she alone has seen in those stolen moments away from prying eyes.
That is enough for Tifa, all the reassurance that she will need, and while she will never say aloud that she belongs with him; she knows.
And knowing is more than enough.
