"maedhros' hat getting knocked off every time he enters a house, maglor having his hair perfectly oiled back as he plays a variety of string instruments, celegorm riding through the english countryside on one of his many hunts, caranthir all decked out at his wedding thanks to his fortune made in banking, curufin posing for an daguerrotype with his latest invention, ambarussa getting up to mischief in university, mmmm yes this au pleases me." -curufinwefeanaro on tumblr

"The post came!" Maedhros announced to his brothers, who were lounging around the sitting room. "And there's something fo-" His sentence was left unfinished, as his hat was unceremoniously knocked off his head by the doorframe. Maedhros glared hatefully at the doorframe. "Really, you'd think that the doorways in this house would be tall enough for me to walk through!"

Caranthir, lounging on a couch with his feet on the setee, looked up from his evening edition of the newspaper long enough to remark, "If you did not insist on wearing that ridiculous hat everywhere, you would not have this problem."

Maedhros might have retorted, but his younger brother was already lost in the business section of the paper. "As I was saying, something came in the post fo-"

"Is it for us?" Amrod asked eagerly.

"I bet it is." Amras told him.

"If I could finish a damned sentence in this house, you would already know!" Maedhros barked at the twins. "Iluvatar help me, I can't wait until winter holiday is over and you two get back to university."

"So what is it?" Curufin asked from the corner, where he was tinkering with some new invention.

"It's an invitation to our kinswoman Aredhel's coming out ball." Maedhros' words came out in a rush, lest one of his brothers interrupt him once again.

"About time she was presented properly," Caranthir scoffed from behind his newspaper. "Turgon could hardly have expected to keep her locked up forever."

"Where's Celegorm?" Maedhros questioned, looking at his four brothers. "Where's Maglor? Surely they'd want to hear this news."

"Celegorm is off hunting." Amras informed Maedhros. "And Maglor…"

"...Well, you know Maglor," his twin finished. "He has gone, I know not where."

"He goes wherever the wind takes him," Curufin said thoughtfully.

"Wind is all Maglor has between his ears," Caranthir retorted.
