Sweet Noises
It was Sunday, the day she cleaned house, and she was dressed appropriately for her job: an old black tee that was a size too small, riding up past her navel every time she moved, washed enough times that was very thin, and a rolled over pair of trashy Soffes, the word 'Kitten' printed on her ass. Her long silver hair was tied up in a messy bun, a lazy attempt to keep it off her damp neck. Khana was bent at the waist, swaying slightly to the music in her head as she wiped down the low-standing coffee table.
"And I'm just asking if you're just asking; Are you talkin' to me?" Khana sang softly. She hummed the next few lines before, "...Noises, sweet noises."
"Forget the words?" teased a voice behind her.
She started, spinning around to face the intruder. "Ah," she blushed, looking away from a smirking Nagato and tucking a few runway strands of hair behind her ear. "Maybe." She turned back to the table, trying to hide the blush that refused to fade. "How long have you been standing there?" Nevermind how he got into her house in the first place. Oh wait- she had left the door open for some fresh air. Of course.
Nagato ignored the question. "You let your guard down too often," he chuckled, stepping further into the room.
Khana clicked her tongue, going back to cleaning. "Because I trust the people around me."
"Hm."
"And I have my guard puppy." She motioned to Okami, who glanced up at the two from his rug before going back to sleep.
"Mm-hm." Nagato moved even closer, studying the young girl as she worked.
She stretched on her tip toes, slightly bent knees resting on the edge of the wood to help her keep balanced as she reached to wipe the grime off the end of the table. Her shirt rode up even more. Along with the nice breeze that blew over her lower back, she could feel Nagato's eyes sweep over her body as well.
Khana peered over her shoulder accusingly before standing up abruptly, a fist on her hip. "Did you want something?" she asked sharply, a tight smile pulling her lips thin.
The redhead casually shifted his weight to one leg, hands in his pockets as he looked down at Khana. "Do you want to go to lunch?"
The invitation caught her off guard and she dropped her defensive stance. "I-..." She glanced away, looking at a wall clock. 11:07. "Could meet you somewhere?" she suggested. "Around noon." She needed some time to clean herself up after cleaning the house all morning.
Nagato's small smile returned. "Sounds good. Yotta Shijin?"
Khana's eyes brightened, her nervous smile turning into a true one. "I love that place!" she exclaimed happily, brushing another flyaway off her forehead.
He nodded once, slowly dipping his chin. They stood in tense, but silly, silence, neither knowing how to properly excuse themselves. Nagato made the first move, taking a step back. "See you then," he said in his gentle way, bowing ever so slightly before he turned to go, leaving the front door open as it had been.
Khana stood, frozen for a good five minutes before collapsing onto the couch in a fit of school-girl giggles. "It's a date!"
