1. Realize (Colbie Caillat)
Take time to realize / that your warmth is / crashing down on in
Take time to realize / that I am on your side
Didn't I / didn't I tell you?
The first thing he noticed was the ache in his right shoulder. He had probably been given something to dull the pain, but whatever it was wasn't doing him any favors – it still hurt like a mother.
His memory was fuzzy; he could only remember bits and pieces. His mind felt sluggish as he pieced together information he had just gathered: the thin sheets covering him, the lumpy pillow under his head, the bright lights overhead that made it hard to open his eyes, the IV he felt on his left arm. Hospital – he was definitely at the hospital.
There was a warm, comfortable weight on his right hand that he had trouble placing. He opened his eyes just wide enough to see a paler hand on top of his, fingers lacing the two hands together.
Bones – his Bones.
"Booth!" Her tone was one of intense relief, and he recognized the anxiety he had seen in her eyes a moment ago.
He struggled to keep his eyes open and his gaze on her. "Did she… Are you okay, Bones?" he asked, voice raspy.
"She didn't get to hurt me." Her voice softened, and he had to strain to hear her. "Thanks to you, Booth."
"You're welcome, Bones." He gripped her hand as tight as he could, and fought to stay conscious long enough to get the words out:
"Couldn't let anything happen to you."
