~Leafpool's P.O.V~
Awhile after the kits were born I was alreadg regretting my choice. I sighed and turned to
watch them as they ran around camp. Squirrelflight noticed and came up to me. "Are you
sure you want me to take care of your kits?" She asked. I nodded. "They are better with you
then they ever would be with me." I replied sadly. "I must go and gather herbs now." I said
then left without another word.
I returned to camp late, but with plenty of herbs. I was went to my den and started sorting
the herbs I had collected. "Leafpool." I heard my sister's voice. "I'm fine Squirrelflight." I said
knowing what she was going to ask. "No you aren't." She said in a firm voice, "You regret it
don't you. Giving birth to your kits." "No," I said. "I don't regret having them. So please stop
asking me I'm fine." I said ending the conversation. I left my den and went to go check in on
the elders.
It had been a few moons since the talk with my sister, and I was proud to see as her kits (my
kits) were made apprintices. Jaykit became Jaypaw apprintice of Brightheart, Lionkit became
Lionpaw apprintice of Ashfur, and Hollykit became Hollypaw my apprintice. I almost burst with
joy at getting one of my own kits as my apprintice. "Jaypaw, Lionpaw let's go!" I heard Ashfur
call them over. "Aren't we going with them?" Hollypaw asked. "No you must first learn other
things such as different kinds of medical herbs." I answered to her disapointment. Truthfully
I had almost no idea what I was doing after all she was my first apprintice and I only had my
memories of when I was an apprintice to go by.
A moon later I realized that Hollypaw was having a hard time as a medicine cat. "Hollypaw?" I
asked, "Will you come here please?" She nodded and padded over to me. "What?" She asked.
"I was wondering if you enjoy being a medicine car. "I said calmly. "Of couse I do! I guess
the blood part makes me sick though..." She answered. "Are you sure you don't want to be a
warrior? You can serve as a warrior just as well as a medicine cat." I asked. "I... Alright... but
who will take my spot?" She asked. I pointed my tail to Jaypaw as he padded over. "But he
wants to be a warrior!" Hollypaw exclaimed surprised. "No Hollypaw I have changed my
mind." Jaypaw said answering an unasked question. "Then let us talk to Firestar." I said.
After the talk Firestar called a meeting. Jaypaw became my apprintice and Hollypaw became
Brackenfur's apprintice.
A while later Firestar held a meeting and called for Lionpaw and Hollypaw to come forward.
Hollypaw became Hollyleaf and Lionpaw became Lionblaze. I was happy for them and at the
same time upset because now they had fully grown up and if they found out the truth now I
knew they would most likely hate me for allowing them to grow up in a lie.
A moon or so after the cerimony for Hollyleaf and Lionblaze I decided it was time Jaypaw
became a full fledged medicine cat. At the Moonpool I anounced before the other medicine
cats that Jaypaw's new name would be Jayfeather. I knew the moment I declared his new
name my chance to tell my kits disappeared leaving me to live on in sadness and grief.
Aww poor Leafpool :(. I hope you enjoyed The Pain of Reality it was really short, but
still a story that I hope is good.
