Singing has always been my passion. I've been pursuing it for years, doing odds and ends open mic nights and gigs as often as I could. But this time it was real. I was auditioning for the Voice. I don't think I have ever been this nervous for anything in my life. I had no reason to be. My song was prepared to perfection, and I looked great. I decided to sing, "Take it back," by Ed Sheeran. It was one of my favorite songs, and showed the uniqueness of my talent. I was wearing an aqua dress that cut off just above my knee and maroon heels. My blonde hair was down, flowing, and curly. My make up was smokey with a natural lip and defined bone structure. Nothing less than perfection when it came to my make up. They introduced me, and I walked on the stage starting to shake.

I belted out the lyrics, loud and proud, turning all four chairs. I couldn't help but let the tears fall. "An Ed Sheeran fan, eh?" Pharell said. I smiled, "yes, he is definitely one of my biggest inspirations." I decided to choose Pharell as my coach because I knew he would help my personality shine through my voice. He ran up to me and hugged me, welcoming me to his team, then I departed from the stage. I walked back stage to do my interview, which went well.

I was so excited that this dream was finally beginning. I hugged my family that was waiting for me, then we went out to celebrate before I had to come back in the morning for long hours of practice. I walked into the studio, half awake. Pharell handed me a coffee, which I chugged. "So, our first show will be a duet. And I called in a favor." Then, the door open and here came a familiar face with a boquet of roses. "Congratulations! I'm Ed, which you already know," none other than Ed Sheeran said to me, as he handed me the flowers. I smiled, in shock, "thank you so much!" I put down the flowers, and hugged him. "It is so nice to finally meet you," I said. He smiled, "it's nice to meet you too! So, do you accept doing a duet with me, yeah?" I was in a daze, was this really even happening? "Yes! Of course!"

I was allowed to choose my own duet song. I chose "Remembering Sunday," by All Time Low. I figured I'd choose a normal song to really display my voice. I would sing the male parts, Ed would sing the female parts, because there was a shorter section for female than male. This was a song I grew up covering so there wasn't much need for practice, but I enjoyed it. After our first day of rehersal Ed asked if I wanted to go grab food with him, which I agreed to.

We sat in my hotel room and talked while we ate. "Where are you from?" He asked. "I'm from New York, so I'm a wee bit away from where I live. It's different," I explained. "Oh, I understand," he said with a chuckle. "Thanks for doing this with me, I really appreciate it," I said, gratefully. "No problem, I think you're really talented. I've actually been listening to you for a while, but had no clue that you even knew who I was," he replied with a laugh. I rolled my eyes, "who doesn't know who you are these days? You're practically everywhere." He laughed, "Yeah, it's a problem, innit" "I mean, I've been supporting you since 2011, so I don't find anything wrong with it," I replied. "You've been lingering in my fan base that long, and you've never reached out before?" He replied, shocked. I rolled my eyes again, "you're not the easiest man to get ahold of, there, Sheeran." He laughed, "true, I wish I would have known sooner! We would have toured together!" I smiled, at least know I know I'll have something to fall back on if the voice doesn't work.

"Anyways, back to getting to know you. What do you like to do for fun? When you aren't doing music," he asked. I thought for a moment, "ya know, music is really everything for me. I guess it would be just hanging out with my friends and family when I'm actually home, reading when I get a chance, I really like netflix." He laughed, "Bass. Netflix is sound. That's pretty much it for me too." I already knew this, I knew a lot about him, admittedly. "We should probably be getting to bed, it's a bit late," he said, noticing the time. It was about 1 A.M. We had practice again at 7. I smiled and walked him to the door, he hugged me before he left. "Goodnight, Kelsey." I smiled, "Goodnight, Ed."

Not going to lie, waking up and seeing Ed's face first thing in the morning was not something I disliked. It was amazing. It made me feel instantly happy, even though it was 7 in the morning. "Good morning, Kelseyyyyyyyy!" He said to me, as I walked in. "Good morning!" I greeted him and Pharell. Practice was mainly to get Ed to learn the song, since I already knew it by heart. We spent the day laughing and joking. It was the best. Then, we went back to my hotel room to hang out. Ed and I spent every ounce of the day together for the whole week he was there practicing with me. The day of our performance arrived quickly. I was nervous, I definitely couldn't mess up this one. It would be more than embarassing.

"Good luck. You're going to smash it! See you in a minute," Ed said, hugging me before I walked out onto stage. He watched me from backstage, as I sang my heart out. Before I knew it, it was his part. He killed it, being on stage with him was amazing. The crowd screamed and applauded for us. We hugged before he walked off stage. I stood and took my critisim. "Girl, you two are a match made it heaven, that was a killer perfomance," Christina said. All the comments I received were wonderful. I walked off stage, to a sweaty Ed waiting for me. He picked me up and spun me around, "you did so great!" I smiled, "thank you! So did you! I never thought I'd see the day that I'd be dueting with Ed Sheeran." He laughed, "we should go in the studio together and make our own! It would be sick!" I smiled at the thought, "we really should! It would be fun to work with you again, it's been a good week." He smiled back, giving me bedroom eyes, "it has been. What's your number? We will do something again sooon. I'm currently working on my next album and I want you on it, no doubt about it." I took his phone, and added my number. Was this really happening?

"We should go out and celebrate you making it to another round!" He said, it seemed like he was just looking for another excuse to party. I smiled, "Sure, I have the weekend off. We can do that!" He smiled, "great, do you need to change or anything?" I looked down at what I was wearing, definitely not comfortable enough for a night out. "Yikes, yes. Meet me in the lobby of the hotel in an hour?" He smiled, "I'll be there."

I quickly changed into a more comfortable, cotton, body con dress and a part of sandals. I touched up my make up then headed down to the lobby to meet Ed. "Ready?" He said, with a smile. I smiled back, "I'm ready." He took me by the hand and led me to the car he had waiting for us. We drove to a little bar in the heart of LA. We had a few beers and sang some karoke. Around 2 A.M we decided to leave. Of course, when we walked out, paparazzi was waiting. Of course, they got shots of Ed and I holding hands. I was not excited about this. "Good night, innit," Ed said with a laugh, as we got into the car. I smiled, "it has been, actually." When we got to the hotel he walked me to my room. When we made it to the door, he ended up kissing me. I wasn't sure if this was because he actually wanted to or if it was just the alcohol kicking in...either way, I didn't mind. It was soft and gentle. But magnificent, none the less. "Goodnight, Kelsey," he whispered, as he pulled away. "Good night, Teddy," I whispered back. He didn't take his piercing blue eyes off of me until he got to the elevator. I went into my room and crashed immediately.

I awoke to my phone ringing, loudly in my ear. "Hello?" I said, wiping the sleep from my eyes. "What is going on between you and Ed Sheeran?!" It was my best friend. "Um, nothing. Why?" I said, confused. "Well, for starters, there are pictures of you holding hands all over the internet, taken by paparazzi I'm assuming. And Ed tweeted, "great night with kmillz lovin the LA life." I smiled, "Did he really? Oh my gosh." I could basically hear Jayne rolling her eyes, "So are you going to tell me what's going on yet?" I laughed, "nothing, honest. I mean, we've spent the past week together because of the voice stuff, and we've hung out every night. Last night we went out for some drinks, and he kissed me goodnight. Oh also, he took down my number because he wants me to be on his next album, but like I said...nothing's going on really." After spilling this all out, I realized, there kind of is something going on, isn't there? "Yeah, Kels, seems like nothing! But anyways, go look at the photos! They're very cute! Love you," Jayne said. "I love you too, talk to you soon," I said, then hung up.

Then I checked my texts:

Ed: Good morning, beautiful. Photos of us were leaked already, welcome to the life of fame. Cup of tea on me? xx

Me: Good morning! Yeah, so I've heard. My angry best friend has been blowing up my phone asking what's going on between us. Sad we can't even go out for drinks without being "together." But yes, I'll meet you downstairs?

Ed: I don't mind the assumptions. ;) Yes, I'll see you in a few.

Me: Not saying I mind them, just saying, it's funny how it all works.

I met Ed in the lobby, he kissed my cheek. We walked into the little cafe in the hotel and got some tea. The lobby was buzzing with paparazzi, again. We decided to take our breakfast back to his room. We sat on the couch and decided to talk.

"Where are you going from here?" I asked. He took a sip of his tea, then smiled at me. "Actually, I'm staying in LA. Like I said, I'm working on my next album, so I'll be here recording for a while. Probably until about June." The voice would be long over by that time, since it only runs for about 6 weeks. "Oh, nice! Are you staying at this hotel or are you renting a place?" I asked, just making small talk. "I'll probably be renting a place, it's much cheaper, this gets a bit expensive after a while. I'm looking for a place right now. Once you get done with the voice you should definitely come record with me!" He said, bringing up the album again. I smiled, "I will! I promise. I'm excited actually!" He smiled back, putting his arm around me, "me too." I was still tired from the night before, so I rested my head on his shoulder. He kissed my forehead.

"Did you have fun last night?" He asked, truly concerned. "I did, did you? Do you even remember last night?" I said with a laugh. "I do, remember every bit of it," he said with a laugh. I was surprised honestly. "Oh, are you sure?" I said, teasing him. He shot me a look, then smiled, "yes I'm sure! Am I not supposed to remember it?" I laughed, "No, no. I just thought you were a bit too drunk to remember it all." He laughed, "no such this as too drunk to remember spending time with your beautiful self." I rolled my eyes. "What?" He asked, noticing. "Nothing," I said with a laugh. "Mmmmmmhmmm," he replied, with sass. I laughed, then he leaned in, and kissed my lips. "I definitely didn't forget doing that." I smiled in the middle of kissing him, then continued. We spent the rest of our day, hiding from the paparazzi, curled up in bed, watch movie after movie and taking silly photos. He instagrammed one with the caption, "movie day with this beauty #bass"

I just basically watched my follower count go up, up, up. Everyone assumed we were dating. Ed was reading through the comments and looked at me, "should we clear up this situation?" I smiled, "is this your way of asking me out?" He smiled back, "yeeah." I nodded. His face lit up and he tweeted, "yes, mates. The rumours are true kmillz is the bomb." Then the tweets started pouring into me. A bunch of depressed teenage girls, sending me tweets of jealousy. Others trying to make friends with me.

The weekend went by too fast, it was time to start my long week of work again. The weeks of work on the voice seemed to fly by. Ed and I saw each other when we could, but we were both busy. I'd spend the weekends at the place he was renting. Before I knew it, it was the final round of the voice...the moment of truth. Ed was in the crowd cheering me on as I sang my concluding song. For this, I chose hallelujah by Jeff Buckley. I sang my heart out and knew that even if I didn't win, I'd have given it my all. It came time to the moment of truth very quickly. Laura, the other artist, and I held hands as we waited for the announcement. "And the winner of this season of the voice is...KELSEY." The tears automatically started streaming down my face. This meant lots of press and an album of my own. I first hugged Laura, then Pharell. Then I ran off stage and jumped into Ed's arms. "I am so happy for you baby! You did so great!" he said. I couldn't help but cry more. I can't believe that all my dreams are really coming true!

We decided to go out and celebrate my win. We went to a pub and drank until about 4 A.M. then went back to the house Ed was renting out. I changed out of my tight, black dress, into one of his flannels. I had it half way buttoned, hanging off my body. The only thing underneath was my black lace underwear. He undressed as well, leaving himself in only his boxers. We got in bed and cuddled up next to each other. There was nothing I loved more than spending nights in between the sheets with him and his drunken kisses. He was a drunk that just wanted to hold you for hours and kiss you until the sun would come up. But I wasn't complaining. We laid this way, until we drifted off to sleep.

My heavy eyes, began to flutter open at about noon the next day. "Good morning, baby," Ed whispered. I heard the tv on in the background, so he must have been up awhile, alone. "Good morning, my love," I said back, quietly. He laid a gentle kiss on my lips. "How are you feeling?" He asked, I'm sure asking about my hang out. "Ugh, I don't want to talk about it," I said, my head pounding. He laughed, "I'm feeling the same way. I made up pancakes, they're fresh and waiting for us in the kitchen." Man, he was perfect. "Chocolate chip?!" I asked, excitedly. "Yep! Chocolate chip for my beautiful baby!"

I got out of bed, and looked in the mirror. I looked like I had been hit by a train. I made a face. Ed came up behind me, wrapping his arms around my waist and resting his head on my shoulder. "Stop, you're beautiful," he whispered, laying a soft kiss on my neck. I smiled, then ran to the kitchen, catching him off guard. He chased after me. He grabbed me by my hips and pulled me back into him, turning me around to kiss him. I laughed as he caught me. "I love you," he said, kissing me. It was the first time he's said that to me. "I love you too," I replied, without hesitation.
