(so yeah I decided to do a traditional game start, but things will get interesting from here I promise)

I rubbed my eyes and sat up. The moving truck had stopped. I quickly grabbed my bag and running shoes from a stack of boxes to my left and put on my lucky cap. Standing at 5 and a half feet, I was a normal 14 year old. I had messy brown hair and a pretty good shape if I do say so myself. But I was never that social and had only a handful of friends which I had left behind on the move.

Just as I had finished getting ready, the back door of the moving truck opened and a light shown through. So, I stepped out into the warm air. I took a deep breath and sighed, it was a long move, all the way from the Kanto Region where I'd lived in Goldenrod City. Since Dad became gym leader, Mom decided it would be a good opportunity to move back into the house she grew up in. It was a nice place and all, but I missed my friends back in the old apartment building. I stopped, "This isn't what I should be thinking about, we just moved, I should be helping unpack," I thought as I unzipped my jacket. I was about to grab a box when I heard a grunt come from behind me. A large and muscular Machoke stepped forward and shooed me away. I had forgotten. Dad hired a Pokemon moving company to do all the heavy lifting. I shrugged and walked into the house where Mom was waiting in the kitchen. The house was already pretty well put together considering we had only been there a few minutes. It seemed that the first moving truck had already been unloaded. Boy were Pokemon cool.

"Kaz! Don't you love the place? It's much bigger than the apartment hm?" Mom gestured at the floor and then at the kitchen area.

"Yeah its great Mom..."

Mom snapped her fingers, "Oh yeah! I almost forgot. Your room is upstairs, be sure to set your clock!"

"I know Mom." And so, I went upstairs to put my stuff away and set my clock. Then I explored the house. Mom said that there used to only be one room upstairs and one room downstairs, but the previous owners had added a second room upstairs and basement. The basement was where my Xbox was situated. I never bothered to play it though, it just impressed the kids at trainer school. After getting situated in the new house, I told Mom that I was going to see Professor Birch at his lab.

"Alright," she called as I walked out the front door, "And don't forget to introduce yourself to the neighbors as well!"

"I will Mom!" I said and walked down the street to the Pokemon Lab.

When I arrived at the lab about a minute later, the door was locked. "That's odd," I thought, "He told me to come see him, but he isn't here?" Suddenly a voice shouted from entrance to Route 101.

"Help! The Professor is being attacked by a wild pokemon!" I don't know what came over me, but my eyes flashed and I started running towards Route 101, my running shoes gripping the ground, propelling me faster and faster. Soon I reach a clearing where there was a man in his late 30s holding a clipboard and pinned up against the tree by a wild Poochyena with a snarl on its face.

"Quick! You there! In my bag! There's a pokeball. HURRYYYYY!" His voice was frantic, so I practically lunged towards the bag and grabbed a pokeball labeled Treecko. I pressed the button and threw it into the air. A Treecko with a surprised look on its faced appeared in front of me. The surprise soon turned to determination a I told it that I needed it to save the professor. I thought for a moment to remember what moves a Treecko has at a starter level, which is what this Treecko looked like It was. As soon as I remembered, I shouted: "Treecko! Use pound now!" The Treecko's tail started to glow, and it did a flip in the air, landing on the unsuspecting Poochyena's head. The Poochyena turned tail and ran before the dust even settled. The Professor staggered over to where I was standing.

"Y-You saved me! Thank you!" He paused, "Say, aren't you Norman's boy Kaz?" He let out a chuckle, "Your just like your father. Why don't we take this to my lab huh. I think I'm done with fieldwork for today." We went back to the lab where the professor handed me the pokeball that I had selected earlier. "Here. You can put this Pokemon to better use than I can."

"Thank you!" I managed to say as I fumbled to attach the ball to my belt. My first pokemon! This was awesome!

"Dad!" A voice called from the door, "Ah there you are. Mom said to tell you that..." she turned to me. "You must be the new neighbor Kaz! I'm May." She held out her hand and I shook it.

"We just got back from Route 101, Kaz here saved me from a wild Pokemon with the Treeko I just gave him." The Professor explained.

"Oh really?" May looked intrigued, "We'll have to battle some time."

Professor Birch suddenly gasped while putting a finger in the air as if he had an idea and started rummaging through the papers on his desk until he found a redish orange device that looked like a high-tech flip phone. He handed it to me saying, "This is what I wanted to give you in the first place. It's a Pokedex. I'm sure you know what it does. May has one too." May held her Pokedex up so I could see. "I suggest you fill it up. It will be hard work, but I believe you can do it. You'll have to ask your mom of course, but you shouldn't worry about that. And one last thing." He handed me a blue berry from a bowl on his desk. "Feed that to your Treeko, it will make him feel better."

After that, I bid them good night, by then it had gotten dark out, then I went home.
