I only wish I could own such powerful song lyrics like these. But even the most desperate wishes can fail us. Maroon 5 owns the song and Cornelia Funke owns the characters. And some part down there is messed up, um don't hate me hate my computer.
Beauty queen of only eighteen
She had some trouble with herself
He was always there to help her
She always belonged to someone else
Starting freshman year of collage was always nerve-racking, and for 18-year-old Meggie it was no exception. Farid had been calling her for the past few weeks, but she had always been busy. Packing had taken a while, and now that she had finished and had all of the time in the world, she couldn't build up enough courage to call him back.
I drove for miles and miles
And wound up at your door
I've had you so many times but somehow
I want more…
Farid slammed the door of his mini-van. Always multi-tasking, his cell phone was in one hand while he balanced a cup of coffee in the other. Since returning back to Meggie's book with her family, he had gotten a job, an apartment, but no girl friend. His heart was reserved for one person only, and there wasn't anymore love to give to anyone else. Disappointed at another call to Meggie going to voicemail, he got back into his car, and set his mind at returning to one destination.
I don't mind spending everyday
Out on your corner in the pouring rain
Look for the girl with the broken smile
Ask her if she wants to stay awhile
And she will be loved
And she will be loved
Meggie lay her head down onto the soft pillow. It was a night much like the one when she had first met Dustfinger-chilly and stormy. She didn't know what provoked her to look out the window, the same way she had on that fateful night, but she peered out and gasped.
Tap on my window knock on my door
I want to make you feel beautiful
I know I tend to get so insecure
It doesn't matter anymore
It's not always rainbows and butterflies
It's compromise that moves us along
My heart is full and my door's always open
You can come anytime you want
Farid parked his car in Elinor's driveway. He would never know why they insisted on living with the dreadful lady. Easily spotting Meggie's bedroom window by the glow of candles, he found a few pebbles. Looking up he could see her face staring at him. A glow seemed to radiate from her that no one else seemed to have. Pulling his arm back, Farid aimed carefully and thrust forward, hitting the square window perfectly in the center. Meggie looked at him confused. Farid motioned for her to come join him in the pouring rain. She didn't give him any sigh of what she was going to do, but left the window.
I don't mind spending everyday
Out on your corner in the pouring rain…
Please don't try so hard to say goodbye.
Meggie didn't even think as she ran out of the house to meet Farid in the rain. She dashed into his arms, taking him by surprise. She forgot how good he felt, comforting and relaxing. The rain cleared her head of any protests as he reached down and enclosed his lips on hers. Both of them, standing in the grass letting the cool rain drizzle down their hair, onto their cheeks and down their sagging clothes. The distance between the didn't matter anymore, as love connected their souls.
Like it? Hate it?
