Authors note: okay so I hated the ending for the season 2 finally so this is my version of the ending. In my version it's after the going away party for castle, Becket didn't break up with Demming, and castle ex-wife never showed up at the going away party. Also castle never talked to his ex-wife at all. Lol. Oh and castle isn't leaving to go to the Hamptons till later that night.
DISCLAIMER: i dont own the TV show castle, its characters, or ABC.
Becket stood in the middle of her apartment, red suitcase in hand. She had come back to get some things she had forgotten, but even with the items now retrieved she still felt like something was missing. She knew what it was deep down inside, but she would never admit it to herself.
She swiftly walked out of the apartment, locking the door behind her, and went over to Demming, who was waiting in the car for her.
Becket got to the door of the car but couldn't make herself get in. This wasn't what she wanted.
Demming rolled down the car window and asked, "Is everything okay?"
"I can't do this." She stated simply. Demming knew what she meant. He had been afraid of this, that's why he had planned the weekend trip in the first place.
"I'm sorry, it's just-" Demming cut her off
"It's okay, I understand." It pained him to say these words, he hated losing her but he knew this was what she truly wanted. "So, can I take you anywhere?"
"It's okay. I can get a cab."
"Come on, it's no trouble." He saw the doubtful expression on her face and added "Please? For old time's sake?"
"What old times?"
"I think we both know this is the end."
She didn't deny it, it was. She wanted something else... someone else.
"Fine." she said as she got in the car throwing her suitcase in the back.
"to Castle's?" Demming asked.
"Yes." Becket replied.
fifteen minutes later at Castle's...
Castle was currently putting his laptop into his computer case, completely distracted by thoughts of her. Castle couldn't believe he was going to be in the Hamptons alone all summer, but most of all he couldn't believe that Becket had said no. Well, he could... he just didn't want to.
The door bell rang and Castle set down the bag and almost Mechanically walked to the door while caught up in his thoughts.
He opened the door to see Becket, red suitcase in hand, standing in his hallway.
"Hello, Castle. Is the offer for the weekend still good?"
Castle smiled.
