"A beauty is a woman you notice but a charmer is the one who notices you." - Adlai E. Stevenson.
Her voluptuous hips swayed as dainty feet played on top of the conglomerate cobblestone ground, the golden bangles clinged to her sun-tanned copper skin and jingling as she moved around on the court. Her ravenous mane which was filled with twirls, curls and tangles was tied behind her for the most part by a cerise scarf as it followed and mimicked her sense of direction.
She watched the commoners come and go, periodically smiling with her scarlet red lips and keeping her brilliant exhilarating set of emerald eyes closed and then sometimes opened to see who else would still be there watching. She peeked open and saw no one else stood there watching her, causing her to gracefully but gradually cease.
The sun was setting and she released a relieved sigh that her job for the day was over but her expenses weren't all it used to be when she first started. Guess today wasn't one those rare nights for her.
The show was now officially over and people were already walking home, doing most of last minute errands while shops were getting ready to close up. She walked down the alley and in a dark corner, being sure to change out of her work clothes. She sent out her beloved pet goat, Djali to stand on guard in of wandering soldiers or off duty prison guards.
As Esmeralda proceeded to change, she heard Djali warningly bleat and trotted over to her, signaling her that someone was nearby. Hastily, she put the navy blue cloak and quickly sat down in a curled up posture, mentally scolding herself for not taking the time to add on more convincing detail into her costume. Now she just had to hope, no one would cast her much of a side glance. She kept her head down as she heard the footsteps get closer and closer, still hoping it wouldn't be who she thought.
She peeked through the cloth and saw a tall thin figure walk past her, stopping in the middle of the alley. "You put on a great show this afternoon." He heard him spoke out to her as she inaudibly gasped, "Will I be expecting you there tomorrow?"
She fell silent for a moment before lifting the cloak hood off her head and looking over, "Yes… how did you know it was me?" she asked.
He chuckled, "To put it quite simply for you, dear." He started to say as he turned around with a small smirk on his face and he simply told her, "A beauty is a woman you notice but a charmer is the one who notices you."
