He had heard them talking about 'Karinrou.'
He didn't know whether to be amused because that was the only thing they could come up with to undermine Karin? or be angry because how dare they think of her as a man? He concluded with the former, because with the latter he knew that he would be listing some of her most feminine attributes, such as her soft voice and the long, flowing, neatly braided hair (much unlike his)—right. He won't go into that, for the sake of his hormones, and for the sake of the game he needed to focus on.
Out of the corner of his eye he could see Yamato looking at him. He had also heard the exclamations about 'Karinrou!' and he was definitely amused. Like he is right now, but as much as Taka would like to convince himself that he was also amused, Yamata seemed to think otherwise, for he sauntered over to his long haired teammate and said, "It's just a joke. Hiruma's I think, to make sure that his team won't be afraid to hit her since she's a 'boy' now."
If it was even possible, Taka's eyes turned into colder, flints of steel. Yamato noticed.
He tapped his friend's back two times, and said in a firm, quiet voice, "Karin knows what she's doing when she entered the football team, you know."
Taka turned to look sharply at him, "If you must remember, I was the one who 'discovered' her, and she was forced into the team."
Yamato sighed, "Yes, yes, but she stayed, didn't she?"
Taka's lips thinned. "The others better protect her."
Yamato nodded. The receiver couldn't—he would be far along the field from the quarterback in their plays.
"We'll take them down."
In his own quiet way, Taka sealed the doom on Deimon, particularly on Hiruma.
