He couldn't will his feet to move.

It was evident that war was closing in on him. Bodies and stone were littering the courtyard, with enemies and allies tearing each other apart only a breath away. Out of the corner of his eye he spotted three Ravenclaws running at Bellatrix, who knocked them to the floor effortlessly.

He knew he should fight, defend himself, but he couldn't stop staring at the body in front of him.

Her name was Avella Gregorio, a fourth-year Muggle-born Gryffindor. He'd used to tease her for her tattered robes, calling her a good-for-nothing Mudblood who couldn't even afford soap.

It had been only seconds ago that she'd been running at him, brandishing her wand with revenge and anger pooling in her eyes, like she'd been waiting for this moment for years. She'd been so focused on killing the boy that had ruined her time at Hogwarts that she had barely noticed him throw the killing curse at her.

And the result was blood. Her blood. Pooling around her, staining her torn robes, oozing out of the cracks and gashes he'd created in her skin.

Pure red blood, like his own. Exactly the same as his.

He'd been using the name for years. Mudblood. He'd heard it so much that he believed with every fibre of his being that people like that were tainted. They were muddy and impure, their blood poisoned by their revolting heritage.

He hasn't expected the blood of someone so impure to look exactly the same as his own, and he couldn't stop staring at the pool that was starting to touch his shoes.

"Draco!" A shrill yell came from somewhere behind him. "Watch it!"

He didn't move, and he wasn't surprised when he felt the stabbing pain of a spell hit his spine. With a low groan, he fell to the floor

The last thing he saw as the life flowed out of him was her blood mixing with his own, and he wasn't sure which blood was his.

Hi everyone! So this is my first ever oneshot, and I know it's tragically bad and horrifically short but I really would like to write more of them so if you have advice, please PM me or review! Thank you for reading!
