Chapter 1: Tex You're an Idiot
'Ahh, what a nice day, 864 degrees, machines controlled by a singular mind that can travel across time everywhere, and me… alone.' The Huntress Athena thought to herself as she read the current status of Venus before she landed down to do some cleanup for the Vanguard.
"So the usual." Her Ghost Jay responded in his special asshole-ish way. He materialized on her shoulder and started repeatedly bumping into the side of her head while they landed.
"Jay you suck. Do you know anyone I can trade Ghost's with?" She said jokingly as she grabbed her helmet and prepped for her mission.
"Oh you would never replace me" Jay quipped as she grabbed her scout rifle and began their trek in the brutal Venus midday.
"Try your luck." She responded flatly.
Her and her Ghost's relationship was interesting, to say the least. Definitely not a conventional Guardian-Ghost relationship. They insulted each other for no particular reason other than fun and entertainment. If you're gonna be stuck with a companion so long why not be assholes to each other right? Underneath all the jokes and friendly jabs, however, was a deep care for one another. They were close, especially since Jay can read her mind... that helps.
But recently Jay was having concerns about Athena's well-being. He knew that at a certain point in a Guardian's life there came the time
to join a fireteam. A brotherhood. A place with strong bonds and mutual respect and understanding. The only problem was Athena was still
without a fireteam. But that's not the part that was bothering her Ghost. It wasn't like there were any fireteams that were going to deny his
badass Huntress. What was troubling him was that she wasn't making any efforts to join one. She said she "didn't want to". What Athena
forgot was that her Ghost can read her mind. So he knew that she was lying. And when he searched her mind to see what was really behind
the behavior, it wasn't what he expected. It was, more than anything, a fear of loss. This left the Ghost stupefied. She hadn't experienced
loss so why was she afraid of it.
