Prologue

IT ALL ENDED WITH FOUR WORDS... ACTUALLY IT WAS JUST ONE WORD THAT ENDED IT

After a long day at school all Bella wanted to do was take a hot bath, put her pajamas on, and go to sleep. Her phycology classes were kicking her ass, so much that she kept thinking why she even wanted to become a child psychologist. She loved children and she knew there were a lot of kids out there that needed help, but after reading about some of the things she would have to deal with as a psychologist she didn't know if she could do it.

After trudging up five flights of stairs, cause the elevator in her building is broken and the building manager refused to get it fixed claiming it would take more money than he had even seen in his life to fix it, she finally made it to her floor. Slightly out of breath from the climb, but more so the backpack full of heavy textbooks hanging from her shoulder.

After five minutes of grunting and digging around in her bag looking for her house key she got the door unlocked. Throwing her bag in the corner she turned around and found the living room filled with candles on every surface, and pink rose petals all over the floor, the coffee table, and the couch.

"Edward," she called out softly into the apartment.

Edward was the one person who could make her feel better when she has had a day like this one. They had been together since they were sixteen, high school sweethearts. They met when Bella and her mother moved to Seattle after her parents got divorced. Her Dad still lived in Texas, and from what she heard, he is dating a women who is not much older than she is and is a dancer, whatever that means.

She and Edward have been together since the moment they met. When they graduated high school, they decided to attend the University of Washington together. They went against the traditional college experience and skipped the dorms and just got an apartment together off campus. They have been living together in this small apartment on the fifth floor of a building where the elevator has been broken for two and a half of the three years they have lived there.

"Edward," she called again softly while slowly making her way into the living room. There was no response and he was nowhere to be seen. Soft music filled the apartment while she stood there taking in the room. Had she forgotten something? Was it their anniversary? Something else?

A throat cleared behind her making her spin so fast she almost lost her balance. There he was right behind her, down on one knee with a ring in his hand and a nervous smile on his face. She couldn't wrap her head around what was happening, her chest felt heavy and her head felt foggy.

"Bella, I have loved you everyday since I met you," his voice was a little shaky.

"Will you marry me?"

She couldn't breath, a million things were running through her head, and yet none of them were making sense. She knew she had to give him an answer, she couldn't just stand there forever with her mouth hanging open like an idiot.

She let out a shaky answer, "No."

Please leave a review, I love hearing your thoughts. Also, I can't decided if I want to do the main story in Bella's POV or keep it third person. What do you think?
