Gawd, it's been ages since I've posted here, hasn't it? -shrugs guiltily- What can I say? I've been busy? School is trying to kill me? Finals are coming up?

This is a short drabble-thing I originally wrote for L.A. class.

She stood very still at the edge of the cliff, a single figure silhouetted against the setting sun. Light brown hair streaked with gold fell to her shoulders, blowing back in an occasional stiff breeze. Blue eyes the color of the ocean looked out over the horizon, staring at buildings in the distance.

There was her kingdom; there was the castle she'd lived in all her life. There were her people, her family. There was where she belonged.

But she had been banished. Never again would she set foot in the realm that she had been born in. She was a lost princess. A princess with nothing left to rule. A princess yearning for the land she loved, the place she had been exiled from until she met her demise.

A gale swept over the ground and her pearl gown billowed in clouds of white around her feet. She clasped her hands, wishing that some day she could return to lead her people –

A shout echoed through the air and the spell was broken. The castle in the distance was a curving red slide. The strong wind was nothing but a light summer breeze. The pale gown was only a yellow sundress.

And the princess was only a little girl who sighed wistfully as her fairy tale fled into oblivion.
