For the Drabble Game Challenge, ShigureAkito, forgive, for Lamia.
"Forgive me."
Shigure almost wants to laugh. Under different circumstances, it would be funny. The God of the Zodiac appealing to the dog, asking forgiveness. He's certain it should be the other way around.
But Akito looks at him, and all he sees is that scared little girl, not the twisted woman who had been given too much power and control until it had warped her into a monster. Part of him wants to hate her. All the damage she has done comes flooding back, overwhelming him. Hating her would be too easy.
Instead, Shigure pulls her into his arms, resting his forehead against the top of her head. The touch is so familiar, something he had done countless times before. He scoops her into his arms easily. "You should rest, Akito," he suggests.
"Shigure!" she cries, her voice urgent, on the verge of panic.
He presses a quick kiss to her lips. "Sleep, my love. You're already forgiven. The demons can't harm you anymore."
Her lips twitch into an almost smile, and her eyes close.
