Still Darkness

OnePiece one-shot

By Heartbroken-Girl

Ok, so I wanted to upload this yesterday but my computer was on crack.

Friday night I was staring outside my sliding glass door and was all like 'Hey I feel like writing something!' So I did and this is it.

It's a Zolu...sort of...

Basically Zoro died and this is what Luffy is feeling...I guess.

Um...it doesn't really mean anything. It's just something I felt like writing. Hope you like!

Beautiful. That was the only way to describe it. Beautiful. The only way to describe him.

That's how it was that night. The only light came from the horizon, while the rest of the sky was painted many shades of blue. The stars just beginning to show, shining like tiny fireflies waking to dance along the dance along the dark blue of the sky. The moon was but a sliver in the fading light. A tiny crescent, hiding the rest of herself behind the planets shadow.

Less the horizon, everything was cast into shadow. Especially the trees. Normaly so full of life, so bright, now were nothing but shadows mingling with the darkening sky. And still. So still they were it was as if time had stopped. They moved every now and again, though. For there was a breeze. A soft, gentle one. But it was there, barely strong enough to blow a few stray hairs from his face. I was refreshing.

Grazing his unclothed skin, he felt a sense of calmness and safety among all this darkness. It was because of him, he knew, that he would always feel this way. Because they would always stay together. Forever relying on each other's strength to get them through the toughest or times. Forever...

The young man felt the other's presents. He turned, but there was no one to be found. The other man was gone. The sense of security faded, just as the remaining sunlight did, only to be replaced by another light.

The youth looked up at the night sky now completely covered in bright fireflies that never moved, never changed. Beautiful. Was it still that? The same beauty that he saw with the other man, the same they had shared?

Stubborn as the captain was, he refused to believe that the other was gone. Forever.

Forever...that's how long you said you'd stay with me. Forever...

Liar...

He just couldn't believe it, wouldn't believe it. He just couldn't go on without him; couldn't go one day without him. And yet...

And yet the day went without him, seeming not to care for his absences. And it was so painful. So damn painful to keep moving without his first mate, without Zoro. It was so hard.

He felt a tear roll down his cheek, then another, and another. They fell like rain, down his normally smiling features. Features now filled with sadness and heartbreak. He longed for Zoro's warmth. Longed for his kiss. Longed for Zoro. He would give it give it all up just to see his face one more time. Just to feel him once more. To bring him back. But he could do nothing, he knew. Nothing could change what had happened.

So Luffy sat, and wept, and waited...accompanied only by the still darkness.
