Destiny

Serena awakened with a jolt, gasping for air. A hand reached out to gently touch her on the bare skin of her lower back, and a voice laden with sleep asked, "what's wrong, love?"

Unable to speak or unwilling to listen, Serena turned away. Bringing her knees up to her chest, she hugged them close to herself and shivered. She heard a sigh to her right but didn't turn.

A shift in the bed told her she was found out. "You had the nightmare again, didn't you?"

The tension in her frame was visible, and as warm arms embraced her from behind she let go of her fears and relaxed into the cradle of true love. Serena turned to rest her head on the familiar shoulder of her lover. Nuzzling her counterpart, she sighed and relished in the touch. "I can't help it, sweetheart. When I think of how close we were to never finding each other..."

"Babe, you shouldn't worry about things that never happened."

Serena let out a slight gasp as lips found their way up her neck. "But you know you shouldn't be here. There's -" she caught her breath as the same lips softly sucked on her ear lobe. When she found her thoughts again, she continued, "there's no way we could be here without-" Again her lover's tender actions cut off her train of thought. As bodies shifted, she found herself laying in bed, her lover floating over her and beginning to kiss her from naval to lips, like they'd done so many nights before. When the kisses landed between her breasts she closed her eyes and managed "thank god for time travel. We'd never be here if it wasn't for-"

The kisses stopped, and even with her eyes closed she felt hot lips hovering over her own, and soft tresses of hair spilling from above and pooling at the sides of her face. She opened her eyes. "You need to stop thinking like that, love." A hand came up to caress her face, and Serena leaned into the soft touch. "We're here, together. Everything is okay."

A kiss touched her lips. "Time travel saved us."

Another landed on her nose. "This is our destiny."

The same soft touch to the corner of her left eye. "I love you so much."

Her right eye. "You're so beautiful."

Back to the lips. Deeper, more sensual, tongues slipping past one another with familiar love and lust. "I would never change this, Serena. The future will be fine, so long as we're together. We can save the world: you and I."

Smiling, Serena cupped her hands around the face inches above her. "I know, Rini. Together we can save the future. You and I..." she cut off her own words by leaning up to taste her lover's lips. "Destiny."
