So I had this idea for a one-shot when I was eating some Ben & Jerry's ice cream, and I just had to write it. It's in Fang's POV, by the way.

Disclaimer: I do not own Maximum Ride. I only own this laptop I am typing on and the ice cream that is dripping on said laptop.

Masked

Nobody knows what's behind my mask. Sometimes, even I don't know what's behind my mask. But there's one girl who does.

Maximum Ride.

She understands me. She gets me. And when she smiles, it's like there's a bright light being turned on right in front of me. Because when she smiles, it makes my day so much better. And when you're a bird-kid on the run, not many things make you smile.

Max is the only one in the Flock who can read my through my eyes. Angel can read me, too, but she read's me through my mind and only because she is a mind reader.

But Max. She can read me like a book. And I can do the same to her. We can have a full conversation with only noises and gestures, or even by just looking at each other.

All my life, I've been the silent one. I never talked much, and I hardly ever showed emotion. Sure, I'd crack a little smile every once in a while. But I've never full-blown smiled. That was always reserved for Max. Because every time she looks at me with her beautiful chocolate eyes, I see many things. But the most important one is love. And to know that she feels that for me—

Well, it's just the best thing that I could get.

So there. I got it out. I don't really care that it's 1:30 in the morning and I'm awake, writing a one-shot, and eating ice cream. I'm doing it anyway.

Um, review please!
