Snow was one of those things one had to either love or hate - sure, it was cold and wet, and once people got to it it was filthy; but on the flipside it was always nice to sit out at night and listen to it crackle beneath your feet, or watch the light of the rising sun play across a barren surface.

While they were similar in some aspect, they were different in others - Renji loved snow and thick sweaters while Genichirou preferred the sun beating down on a bare back and hot sand between his toes. So naturally, it had taken a bit of convincing on Renji's part to get Genichirou to come to Hokkaido with him and his family, but again, naturally, it was rare Genichirou could say 'no' to Renji.

At the very least Genichirou had remembered to bring some warm clothes and a few extra pairs of thick socks, so all in all the trip wasn't too terribly bad. While the rest of Renji's family was out scouting various snow sculptures the boys were left to their own devices, left to do whatever they wished until the sun began to set and they were to meet up again and head out for a hot meal.

It was cold, and Genichirou kept gloved hands shoved deep into his pockets while somewhere ahead of him on a mostly deserted road Renji was busy squatting over a small drift and several balls of ice.

"You're going to catch a cold, you realize this." Blunt, as always, but Genichirou didn't really see any point in getting sick while on vacation. However, the only response he would get was a snowball smacking him in the face and a soft chuckle from somewhere in Renji's direction.

"A little bit of snow isn't going to hurt, Genichirou." Another ball was thrown, though this time Genichirou had managed to sidestep far enough to only get pelted in the shoulder.

"He who says snow doesn't hurt hasn't been hit in the face with a snowball." Angry? Not particularly, but Genichirou wasn't exactly one to take abuse lying down and soon enough snowballs were flying from both directions and two usually reserved boys were hooting and hollering and generally making nuisances of themselves.

It wasn't long before snowballs had stopped and playtime had devolved into a wrestling match, one pinning the other and maybe having his face plunged into a snow bank before the tables had turned and the other had taken control of the situation. Minutes passed, then half an hour and finally the cold had gotten the better of them, leaving two shivering teens lying in the snow trying to catch their breaths back.

"That was entirely your fault." Genichirou panted. He was going to be sore later, definitely - Renji probably could've been one hell of a pitcher had he chosen baseball over tennis - but he knew the other teen was in much the same condition and thus didn't care to think on it much.

"I'll take that blame." Renji replied, sitting up and scooting closer, one gloved hand pressing down lightly on Genichirou's chest as he leaned down. "This blame, too." His head dipped and caught Genichirou's lips with his own, giving the elder teen a light, sweet kiss. "Head back and get a bath before my parents get back?"

All Genichirou could do in response was nod dumbly. Baths were nice for warming up, but baths with ones boyfriend were even better.
