I pace the around the cabin, run my hands through my hair, fiddle around with the pen in my pocket, stare at my fountain, and do just about anything to get my nerves to settle down, and it doesn't work. I'm nervous. Perseus Jackson, son of Posiedon, the god of the seas, horses and earthquakes, one of the conquerors of the great battle of Gaea, not to mention the battle of Kronos, and I'm nervous about a question. A little question, 'will she say yes?' Annabeth and I have been together through Tartarus and back (literally) and I love her. She's the strongest, feircest, most beautiful girl I've ever seen and I hope she says yes. We are going on a date. Not just any old dinner-and-a-movie kind of date but a special one. Picnic by the seashore, swimming, and a small little tiny question. I've never been this nevous on a date with her. We've been on so many dates before, but I'm still so nervous. I'm jolted out of my nervousness by a knock on the door. "Come in." The door opens and Grover comes in. "Hey, Perce, Annabeth just got out of the taxi. She'll be here in minute." "Oh, gods. Okay, thanks, G-man." He leaves with a nod goodbye and I get into my swimming trunks and go to the seashore. Geez, Camp Half-Blood is beautiful at night. All the way in rural Manhattan with no traffic or busy city lights, there are so many stars. I lay down on a blanket in the sand and wait for Annabeth to come. "Hey, Percy." I turn around and see Annabeth standing there with a beach towel and wearing a black bikini with matching flip-flops. I stand up and kiss her. She breaks away. "Hey, I thought we were swimming!" she says with a laugh. I watch her kick off hershoes and run into the water until it's up to her neck. I join, splashing her in the face. She pushes a big wave of water towards me. "Beat that!" she says "You already know I can." "Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know, but try doing without your magical sea god powers." she says in a mocking tone. So I do just that and it's still bigger. She comes up from under the water, spluttering and I fold my arms smugly. "Fine, you win." She kisses me again, but this time, it's a long kiss and I wrap my arms around her and hold her tight. After a while, we stay in for an hour, laughing, splashing and swimming like little kids. Then we dry off with our towels and eat ham sandwiches. I finish my sandwich, but she's still eating, so I wait. And it's killing me. The sudden wave of nerves makes me wish I had a turtle shell so I could scrunch up inside and hide, but I tough it out until she's done eating. As she finishes the last bite, I start digging in the sand and pull out a blue-green opalescent box, but I keep it out of her sight. She stands up. "I'm thirsty, hold on." she says and walks over to her towel, grabs a water bottle and starts to walk back. "Wait," I say, "Before you sit down, I have a question." I Get up and kneel down on one knee. "Annabeth Chase, will you marry-" "Yes, of course, Percy!" She drops the water bottle and pulls me up and hugs me. I can't breathe. "Anna- A-annabeth!" She lets go. "Oh, gods, I'm sorry, Percy, I'm just so happy." she says shyly. "Naw, it's okay. Just let me put it on." She holds out her hand and I slip it on. A pretty silver ring with a line of blue saphires and a pink-ish blue-ish opal in the middle. I stand up and kiss her deeply. "I love you, Annabeth." I whisper. "Not as much as I love you." she whispers back with a soft giggle.
