I was happy, there was no doubt about that. I had everyone I needed; my son, Zane, my wife, Mary, and a happy home. But then, something happened that made my life drastically change. It basically ruined my life. I lost everything. We were on vacation, driving to Disney World. It was 5:30 p.m. Out of nowhere, a speeding car came barreling towards us, and hit us head on. I was driving, but still the only person in the vehicle who was still alive. The only thing that the police could figure out was that the driver was drunk. My wife died in the ambulance. Zane stayed strong a few hours later, but died before the morning came.

Since then, I was depressed. Nothing could cheer me up. I couldn't stand the fact that the two people I deeply loved were gone. One day, I decided that since I knew robotics, why not build a son? He would be just like Zane. I could even name him Zane! So, I started working on my latest project.

After quite a few years, I was finally finished. All I had to do was flipped the power switch. But I felt something. The feeling of sadness that it had come to this. I made an artificial son. Everything about him would be fake, especially the memories I had installed into him. He was metal, would this even work? I stopped thinking about this and focused on turning Zane on.

I opened my eyes. Bright lights blinded me so I closed my eyes again. After a few seconds I decided to open my eyes once more. A man with brown hair and glasses was in front of me. "Hello Zane," he said. "I am your father." He helped me off the table. There was a mirror leaning against the wall. I watched myself as I learned to walk. My father was right there beside me, and helped me when I almost fell. He taught me to cook among other things. I noticed that we never went outside. "Father, will we ever go outside?" I asked. "Soon," he replied.
