"Clark? Are you in here?" Chloe Sullivan called into the seemingly empty barn, still wondering what was going on. It was Christmas Eve and all Clark would tell her was to come to the barn at eight o'clock. What was even stranger was that he had asked her to where the dress that she had worn for their Spring Formal last year, and she admitted to herself that she almost hadn't; the dress, like the photos that still resided on her desktop computer at the Torch were a reminder of the almost-perfect night that had been cut short when Clark had to go and save Lana. She had been hurt at first, but after Clark had explained what had happened, and that he was an alien or 'intergalactic traveler' she had forgiven him and they had moved on. Or at least she thought they had. Standing in the entrance to the barn wearing the dress from that ruined night brought all of her feelings for the young farm boy racing back towards the surface. She felt her heart clench in pain, and was about to just turn around and walk away when music started playing. She recognized the song as "Save me" the song that had been playing when Clark had to leave the Spring Formal, and walking over to her looking exactly the way he had at the Spring Formal was her best friend and not so secret crush, Clark Kent.
"I know you told me I didn't need to make the formal up to you Chloe but would you care to dance?" He asked and she nodded, tears welling in her eyes as she let him take her into his arms They danced back and forth as the song played and when it was over Clark leaned forward and gave her a feather-light kiss on the lips.
"Merry Christmas Chloe." He said and she smiled as they resumed dancing, knowing that this was the best Christmas she had ever had.
