You Always Hurt The Ones You Love

I sighed, rolling away from him. He doesn't love me. I don't know who he loves, or even if he is capable of love. He -is- the Perfect Soldier, after all. Even if he's not as perfect as he thinks he is. Most of the time, he seems devoid of human emotion, but every once in a while, I can see the Heero inside. He doesn't love me. I don't think he does, at least. So what -was- that emotion in his eyes? I drifted off to sleep, still wondering.

I opened my eyes. Cold cobalt ones stared back into mine.
"You can let go of me now," Heero said coldly.
I blinked, momentarily puzzled. Then a clue dawned, and I immediately let go of him. He got up and left as soon as I detached my arms from around his waist. I sighed, rolling out of bed. As I assumed, when I walked out of the bedroom after getting dressed, he had already left.

I walked slowly along the water, paying no attention to the rest of the world, nor where I was going. I found myself standing on a cliff. I stared out over the rolling blue waves. "Heero," I murmured, recalling the last time I had been here..

I smiled faintly. For old times sake, I screamed at the world.
"HEEEERROO!!" My voice was so full of pain, and sorrow.. "Heero," I whispered again. I felt a tear slide down my face as I fell to my knees. I sat like that for what felt like hours, my hands flat on the ground, head bowed, tears flowing freely. I didn't hear the footsteps coming up behind me.
"Relena.."
I knew that voice. I stood slowly, turning around. "Heero."
"Relena.. I love Duo."
I nodded. "I know."
"I'm sorry, Relena." He pulled his gun out.
I was confused. For a moment. Then I understood, and smiled slightly.
"Goodbye." He aimed it at my heart. There was a tear in his eye as he pulled the trigger. The bullet hit true.
"Arigato, Heero," I whispered. I closed my eyes, and fell back.

Heero walked away, a tear trailing down his cheek.
"Mission… accomplished."
