Deadly Salvation
Serena hears a roar.
It's dreadful, terrifying, and she immediately recognizes it came from the trapped cocoon within Team Flare's deepest part of its headquarters. She feels the ground shake beneath her feet and she takes a few steps back, feeling anxious on what is to come. She can view light emitting from the cocoon, as it spins and shakes violently.
This is it, she thinks. This is...
The light becomes so intense that she closes her eyes, protects her face using her arms, and the light stops. Once it does, Serena unfastens her eyes to view at the cocoon unfold into a giant avian red and black Pokémon.
...the legendary Pokémon of destruction, Yveltal.
The Pokémon flexes its wings and breaks the cage that it was held in, and releases another roar. Once released it flies up, flapping its wings and casting a large shadow upon the female Pokémon trainer. Their eyes meet, and she could see its energy overflowing within. Serena knows that this is crucial; she is going to face such a deadly beast.
She has heard of the story of Yveltal from many, that this Pokémon brings nothing but death and destruction; it takes life out of living beings for itself. Indeed, a harsh position for its purpose in life, but this is what Yveltal does. The opposite of the other legendary she has heard of called Xerneas that brings and shares life to all.
Both are such powerful, majestic creatures, but for different purposes, and she is dealing with the more gruesome one.
Yet, despite the purpose of this savage Pokémon, she is willing to save it. She must save it from the clutches of Team Flare and their goal to recreate a new and beautiful world under their liking. Serena does not want to see this Pokémon in pain, used, being taken out of its natural position and purpose just to satisfy the desires of a few.
Even if the purpose of it is fatal and destructive.
She could see the expression of the legendary; it is in pain, in anger, and longs to be free.
"You're... hurt are you?" she asks softly to the beast in front of her.
The Pokémon hears her soft words and roars again, Serena muses whether Yveltal understands her.
"It must have been terrible to be held captive here," she continues, wanting to tell the legendary her feelings. "But now it's over, I have come to save you."
It seems such an insane act to do, Serena is playing with a dangerous weapon. She and the rest the world may fall to despair, as Yveltal has not forgotten its purpose and could kill. Yet, she sees that this is all worth it. She intends to perform this dangerous deed, not just to save the world but for this gruesome and sad Pokémon. She even wonders if it is lonely because of its destiny.
Serena pulls out a Pokeball, while the Pokémon roars once more, knowing that it will engage in the act of fighting.
"So please, do not be frightened," she whispers. "Let me help you."
She throws her pokeball, and the battle with the legendary Pokémon of death and destruction begins.
I will save you, Yveltal.
So I decided to expand my fanfiction to other game series… Pokémon being one of my favorites.
I found the scene in Pokémon Y where the player encounters Yveltal in Team Flare's HQ quite intense, so I wanted to make a ficlet based off it. I also feel that Yveltal, while such a dangerous Pokémon, has such a sad purpose. I certainly would not like to be one that brings death and destruction. Despite that, I actually like Yveltal and it may even become one of my favorite legendaries. Also there's not a lot of fics between this Pokémon and Serena, so that needed to be changed. ;)
Reviews would be nice, but it is not obligatory. Even so, I will be thankful for any feedback given on this short piece.
