This is a poem I experimented with in my creative writing class.
Prompt: Villains and sympathy
Enjoy.
.:The Sting of Betrayal:.
Hands that grasp at nothing
A voice so weak that no one can hear
Eyes that see nothing but the cold memories of a world fading
A world so muted that all we have left is fear
It is here I sit alone
In this world so cold
Left on my lonesome; vulnerable and prone
To a world so dangerous, it's captured me in its clammy hold
It's sad to think that no one cares
What has become of my heart, once gentle and kind
I am now hunted and persecuted in bloodthirsty pairs
If you catch my eye today, is it really surprising, the deep hatred you find?
I was born with power
It was something I could not control
But no, I was to be rejected and driven from the tower
This seething betrayal is taking its toll
My precious friends have abandoned me
Each and every one of them
Left me; one, two, three.
Now it is them I choose to condemn
I have been lied to
By the very people I once held dear
When I tried to see their view
All I would receive was their distrustful sneer
I have been hidden from the sun
Shackled helplessly to the bottom of a well
But now it is their turn to run
Because I will give them Hell!
The time has come now.
For the last time they have crossed the line
Now here I take this solemn vow
The crown of Camelot will be MINE!
I am not very talented in poetry. Perhaps I will come back to this when I gain more experience. However, I would like to know our thoughts.
