I have not seen Captain America: The Winter Soldier yet (tomorrow) but I wanted to throw these little stories out there before I find out how the movie really ends. These are two thoughts based on Natasha attempting to find a date for Steve at the start of the movie.
Too Busy
After everything settled down and what passed as normal life could resume, Steve Rogers and Natasha Romanoff met in a SHIELD hallway.
They were dressed to the nines. Steve wore a dark navy suit with a crisp white shirt and a blue tie patterned with tiny dots of red.
Natasha wore a jade green cocktail dress that left her right shoulder bare and had a fold of fabric flung back over her left shoulder like a scarf or cape. The drapery probably concealed a shoulder holster and a couple of knives, Steve thought in amusement.
"Agent Romanoff, if you wanted a date with me, all you had to do was ask," he teased.
She smiled and gave the same reply he had. "That's why I don't ask."
"Too shy or too scared?"
Natasha looked over Steve's shoulder and gave a welcoming smile.
"Too busy," she answered.
Steve was jostled from behind. Clint Barton shouldered past his Avengers teammate, giving Steve a mock jealous glance.
"Get your own girl, Cap," he said with a wink. He cocked an elbow and Natasha threaded her arm through.
"He's got one," said another voice from behind Steve.
Maria Hill stood there in a black dress styled much like Natasha's, with the same cape effect that must be de rigueur for the dangerous women of SHIELD. She carried a tiny, hot pink purse and wore matching heels.
She took Steve's arm. Clint gave the couple a respectful, two-fingered salute and led his date away.
"Two-timing me already, Rogers?" Maria said with a smile. "I'm shocked that Captain America would do such a thing."
"Cap wouldn't," Steve agreed. "I hear he's a real Boy Scout. But I'm not Cap right now, maybe I'll surprise you."
"I'm not always fond of surprises," Maria answered, then she purred. "But in your case, I'll make an exception."
Like I said, I don't know if Cap ends up with a date at the end and there are several possible choices, but this was inspired by the outfit Cobie Smulders' wore to the premiere — loved the pink accessories — so Maria gets the nod.
