Prologue
It was a beautiful summer day when it came. There was barely a cloud in the sky. Friends and families were outside enjoying the day and having fun. Everything was peaceful. All of a sudden the peacefulness was shattered by screams of fear and panic, people pointing at the sky.
From the sky a shower of flaming, green meteors showered down onto the earth and among the mass of panicked humans. Fires broke out where the meteors landed, which spread quickly across the grass to the houses or started at the houses where the meteors had landed on them breaking through the wood as easily as a hot knife slices through butter.
Shouts from friends and family members ensued, desperately hoping their friends and families were alive. Some of the people were closer to where the meteors landed and got a closer look at the spore like meteors. They were large, round, and appeared to be faintly glowing. Nasty green roots were forcing their way down into the earth sitting below the meteors.
Then things took a turn for the worse. From the meteor green balls of goo detached themselves from the meteors. The closer bystanders were immediately targeted and attacked by the creatures. The bystanders who weren't attacked immediately fled from the horrid monsters. The monsters gave chase, bouncing along after there prey. Their red eyes were filled with glee as the bit at the heels of the slower humans with their sharp teeth.
It was in this chaos the story begins.
