"But why do I have the girly name?" complained Selena to her father.
"Would you rather we called you Bob?" teased Ira.
Selena just eyed him with an expression not dissimilar to that of her mother when she was displeased. "And besides," Ira continued, "your mom and I are rather fond of your name - it's a testimony to how we met."
"Yeah, yeah," said the teenager with a roll of her eyes. "When you saved the world."
"Oi, don't knock it kiddo," said Ira mildly. "We're the reason you're here."
Selena shuddered at the thought of her parents having sex as she rose from her seat. Ira grinned as his eldest daughter then left the room.
What Selena didn't yet know was the exact history for her middle name "Fire": she was conceived that very afternoon Doctors Ira Kane and Alison Reed helped Glen Canyon, Arizona and the world.
