Platform Fire - Jack's Mannequin
All he ever did was watch.
Watched as he sat there, pretending to be strong, pretending everything is normal when inside things are anything but right. He doesn't like to think he needs sympathy from anyone but the truth is, sometimes everybody needs sympathy and this is when he needs it. When guilt is pressing down hard on him how can he not feel bad? Knowing that he will likely end his race just because of his sexuality? Seems like a pretty shitty reason to kill off an entire race of hybrid humans. But no, he never understands, Ichigo just sits there, he pretends to listen but never seems to be it. It was straining on them, it was like they were standing in a deep fog, reaching out for each other but unable to find each other. He couldn't find Ichigo as he faded further and further away, pulled away from him, away from everyone they knew. He knows now no one can relate.
Unable to take it anymore when Ichigo is walking to class, the halls mostly empty Ishida pins him against the nearest wall. He hopes he'll be worried but all he says is, "I don't want to miss second period."
"If you won't even try to understand how can I stay, Ichigo?" He narrows his eyes but shrugs the Quincy's hands off his shoulders.
"Maybe you shouldn't then, Uryƫ if it's that big a deal to you." He was only here to watch his suffering no matter how hard it got. He feels resentment for this man that replaced the person his lover had been in high school. Before he would never watch him drown. Now he doesn't even hesitate to watch him crumple in front of him.
"You don't want me to stay." Ichigo slips away from the tight space between Ishida and the wall, without looking back and he strides off.
"Whatever." And then he's gone. Ishida doesn't feel sad or tired, maybe shocked but he's too strong. I can get over this, I'll be okay. But is he saying that to himself or is it true?
These drabbles are old so please don't judge my writing on these! :)
