Bridget walked down the dark gravel road with confidence
Bridget walked down the dark gravel road with confidence. Her hair shone in the moonlight, illuminating it until blinding. She looked down the spacious alley with a mixture of fear and curiousness. Tibby should be here soon. Bridget thought to herself as she picked up a mud-covered rock.
Walking up and down the alley, Bridget thought of all the times the pants had helped the girls through summers. Really, she didn't know how they would have survived like that through the separation.
Now, they were all grown up and closed up, but it figured. They closed themselves up in their apartments, miraculously right next to each other. On lonely nights, when Eric had full ships down in Baja, Bridget would travel to Lena's room and sit on her comfy shabby leather couch, and look out of the small window.
Tonight, Bridget was not lonely, but sad. No one could even begin to define the utter and complete silence in the cramped apartment. So, Bridget decided to go out in the alley. Smart, huh?
Crunching footsteps startled Bridget out of emotion, and she turned around to see Tibby standing there, in all her lonesome self. "Tibs, What if…?" Bridget asked, enveloping her in a hug.
Tibby had been pregnant for a while. She really didn't know it though. I guess you can never be too ready. Bridget thought to herself. She thought back on the lettes Tibby had sent to the girls while in New York:
Dear C/L/B,
Went to the nice little foul-smelling doctors office today. That little preppy girl almost made me tear my hair out. Anyway, I gottcha some news. Gavin and I are pregnant. Didn't read too carefully? The word seems to stand out, huh? Anyway, I'm coming back home. Guess Gavin is coming also. We'll have to see, after all, he has to break up with Shelby before anything happens. I'm a little rebel, aren't I? See you two nights and a day from now.
Tibbs
All of the girls decided Tibby didn't need a flood of cards and letters in her mailbox at the dorms. So, they all wrote in one. Lena started off, in her mother's handwriting, because hers was too 'sophisticated' and it 'reminded her of the heartbreaker: Kostos.' It was all too familiar.
Dear Tibbs,
We wish you a merry Pregnancy. I guess it also happens that Bee is too. Have fun! No, I'm kidding. I'm right next door, don't cha know. We'll be at the (airport, bus station, train station, etc. Please tell us. :)) when you arrive home. Lets celebrate!
Wow Tibbs. We are so happy, don't let it fool you. I guess I didn't tell Lenny (because she'd have told you by now), Mama is totally and 100 non-healthy. I guess David somehow told me (by a LETTER, I might add.) that she had breast cancer. Two more weeks before we find out if she's healthy and cure-able or not. Fun fun fun. Let's celebrate!
It's Bee, if you didn't know. I guess Lenny wants to tell the world about Eric and I. I shouldn't blame her; she's ecstatic about it all. It's not my fault, I tell you! You know better than to believe me, right? Anyway, we'll have fun! I promise. Lenny and Car are just too lucky not to be pregnant. Haha. That's quite a laugh. Let's celebrate! :) haha. I couldn't just break the chain!
Bee, Lenny, And Car.
Bridget almost cried when that was over. And she was the tough one!
Coming back from that long flashback, Bridget hugged Tibby tight and looked at her closely. "I guess we'll be even better sisters than before." She choked out, and led Tibby into the apartments.
Sorry for the short entry. Guess I need to write more soon
