Chapter One/Prologue
Okay so, Im gonna ignore the fifth book in this, and make Percy go to CHB for christmas, and such, okay? Good. And Annabeth might be slightly OOC, but I think that becaue her and Percy finally got together that it might bring out the girly side in her, you know?
It was three Christmasses ago at Camp Half-Blood, that Chiron created the anual Secret Santa Christmas Party for everyone older than fourteen to participate in. Which is where I come in. Hi, my name's Percy Jackson and I'm fifteen,(Arent I lucky?) When Chiron told me who I had to buy a gift for, I was assigned to my best friend, Annabeth Chase. I had no idea what to give to her. I had been friends with her since I was twelve, but I still had no idea what to get her. She's smart, athletic, tall, blonde, grey-eyed, pretty, dangerous, and remembers everything. She loves architecture and reading, although she's dyslexic like every half-blood. Her mom is Athena, the goddess of wisdom and battle strategy. She hates my guts too. All because I'm the "Son of the Sea Spawn" or whatever. All I know is that she absolutely hates that Annabeth and I are best friends.
So, anyway, I have friends in low places, so I called up Connor Stoll; he knows everything about everything in gift giving, he's the Einstein of Presents, he is a total genius, he helped me pick out my Mom and Step-dad's wedding present. So, I called him and told him to meet me at Pelican Bay, I work there as a lifeguard.
He came and told me "You are such a idiot, if I told you what to get her, she would find out and kill both of us. It has to come from your heart man.".
"So you're telling me that you won't help me because the present I give her has to be sentimental and meaningful.,"
"Pretty much."
"Rude," and I pushed him out of the watchtower and into the pool.
For five more minutes I sat there watching him flounder about yelling, " I can't swim," then I went and saved him. Aren't I the best lifegaurd ever?
Later on in the day I was sitting in the kitchen of my Mom and step-dad Paul's appartment, drinking blue tea and catching up.
"So, Percy, what are you going to get Annabeth for the Secret Santa thing?" Paul asked. He liked Annabeth, and like my Mom, thought she was a good influence on me.
"Truth be told, I have no idea. I may have known her for two years, but I asked Connor, and he said he wouldn't help me because it had to be sentimental and heartfelt or whatever"
"It should be, Annabeth is special to you isnt she honey? It should be something from your heart. You two are close, and you're a smart boy, you'll do fine." my mom said gently.
I grunted and looked down into my blue tea, sometimes parents were so difficult.
