It was an unusual quiet day in the hub. Tosh was working at her laptop, Jack was in his office and Gwen and Owen were busy with avoiding doing any actual work. Ianto came around from time to time, handing everyone some coffee.
As he gave Tosh a new cup of the steaming drink, she saw something sparkle on Ianto´s finger.
„Ianto! Is it what I think it is?" she asked while she excitedly examined the ring.
Ianto blushed. „I suppose" he answered with a smile.
But before Tosh could ask any more questions, the CCTV on her laptop showed that someone had entered the tourist office.
„Sorry Tosh, lunch is ready" Ianto excused.
A few minutes later they all sat together, eating their lunch. Ianto headed to the kitchen to get some more drinks for them all.
Taking the chance, Tosh asked the others curiously „ what do you think about it?"
„About what?" asked Gwen.
„Come on guys, I can´t be the only one who noticed. Ianto is wearing an engagement ring!"
Gwen squealed excitedly.
„Didn´t know he had a boyfriend" Owen muttered.
„How do you know it´s a man?" asked Gwen curiously.
„That's not really hard to guess. The fact that HE is wearing the ring tells everything, doesn´t it. In case you never noticed: usually the woman wears the ring. Unless the relationship is between two guys. Or if the guy just hasn´t got the guts to propose, and the woman has to"
„Do you really think so?" Tosh asked, ignoring his last statement.
„How come we don´t know that he´s in a relationship?"
They went silent, feeling a bit guilty. Well, at least Tosh and Gwen did.
„Well", Owen broke the silence „He will certainly make a good housewife. Let´s just hope tea-boy won´t get pregnant soon." Owen joked.
„Careful" said Jack, who hadn´t said anything at all yet." That´s my fiancé you are talking about "
Ianto came back to the sight of Owen choking on his food, Tosh and Gwen looking stunned and Jack casually eating as if nothing had happened.
