Theme 4: Dark
The sun was too much bright, Bruce decided as closed his eyes. The sun's rays were almost stifling with the way they beamed down on him, making his suit even more stuffy and uncomfortable.
Meetings, investments, and dealing with shady minded partners…everything was becoming more and more foreign by the days. Soon enough the only suit that he had begun to think of as his rightful suit was his bat suit. The longer and more time he spent it the suit, the more that it had begun to be a second skin. So much, that sometimes it was hard to take it off when he was done crime fighting for the night.
The feel of wind rushing past him as he jumped from rooftop to rooftop, hiding in the shadows-becoming one with the shadows- stopping villains from hurting someone and ultimately taking away a beloved family member from someone else.
The man closed his eyes again, but this time from the ache that was always in his heart. Yes, the sun burned him. It peeled back layers of his carefully made mask of lies and deception and revealed who he really was.
The dark was his friend. He could hide in it. Hide so that no one would see him fight, be who he really was, and even be with someone who he had no right to be with. The darkness protected him and guided him throughout the long nights until the sun rose once again.
No matter what happened during the day, Bruce-no, Batman, always had the night.
