A/N: For Starvation Forum's March prompt, Epic. This prompt was hard but according to the dictionary, "epic" is "heroic or grand in scale or character."

See if it fits, why don't you? Please R&R.

she whispers it over and over in her head.

please.

please.

please.

don't pick me.

and it's her.

she's never heard his name before.

he doesn't look familiar.

he's much younger than her.

it's the look on his face.

that's why she cries.

she tries not to run.

he was never going to win, anyways.

how is there still any blood left in his body?

and then the cannon sounds.

she runs.

his head rolls after her.

she comes home haunted.

it's not enough that her parents love her.

she smells the blood and feels the blood.

she tastes the blood.

she screams at the ocean but it's still stained red.

it's his turn now.

she knows him.

he ignores the mad girl.

they've never spoken.

it's not like she cares, anyway.

she's a good liar.

it's like a dream.

it was stupid to expect a victory.

and then the trident falls out of the stars.

she must still be dreaming.

she'll wake up when he dies.

they live closer now.

the same neighborhood.

not that anyone else wants to live near murderers.

she deludes herself.

maybe he doesn't mind so much now.

she doesn't know that he never really did.

the screen is gone.

she's back with that bodiless head.

she knows it's not real.

it's got to be real.

it'll be real enough for those lovers.

things happen so fast.

this one is different.

she doesn't know exactly how.

he takes her hand and she holds his.

he asks her not to die.

she says she won't if he won't.

she's taken away.

nobody answers her questions.

they make her scream.

they make her hurt.

maybe she's waking up.

she doesn't know what's happening.

they take her away again.

now the people are nicer.

they don't hit.

she sees him and screams again.

it's a happy scream.

she picks the green dress.

he wears the mad boy's clothes.

she wears the net.

he picks the nicest flower.

it's the color of blood.

he's gone again.

she thinks maybe he'll die.

but it's such a long dream.

she doesn't want to wake up.

she's safe in sleep and drugs.

but her baby wants a father.

it's not like she ever cared.

but she can't lie anymore.

she loved him.

he loved her.

and now she's fully awake.
