Our Red Eyes
"Stop it!"
"Please!"
Prussia cleared his aching throat, scratchy from yelling. They were whipping him again. His people. He curled into a small ball, crying softly. He wished they would get their of this. They burned him at the stake, seeing that his could not die from blood loss. Then they tried to drown him, seeing that he could not die from fire. They did not see his logic. After all this, if he could die, he would.
His white tunic was already stained a sick blood red, His skin was red, his hair also dyed the sick color because of blood. His mouth tasted the metallic taste, making the nation want to vomit. He was like this because of the only thing that was supposed to be red.
His blood red eyes.

Mary looked into her mirror. She was also sick of it. Velvet eyes stared back.
Opening her booked, she grimaced at the picture. A picture of medusa, what her grandmother was. Mary didn't want to be alone anymore. Only if she didn't have those cursed red eyes, only if she could see the outside world.
Only if.
People had hunted her family for them, claiming that they were monsters. Reaching a hand out the window, she cursed the thing that sent her apart from people that could have loved her. The things that labled her 'monster.'
Her blood red eyes.

It was just another day for Prussia. His frail body wounded, his mind scarred, he ran from the villagers, sacred, and so alone. He hated it.

It was also just another day for Mary as well. She stayed at her window, not wanting to move any further, remember what had happened, and what her mother paid for her safety. Curiosity bubble, but was held back by fear. She hated it.

Prussia ran into a small forest just outside of the city. He carefully splashed water onto his wound, wincing at the new feeling. He gulped, then dunked his head underwater, washing his hair. Blood floated downstream.
Walking, more wandering into the forest, he found a small cabin to take rest at. He hoped no one was there, but who would build a cabin there in the first place?
And so he waked up to the door, giving a gentle knock.

Mary was shaken out of her slumber by a soft knock at the door.
Her mind raced. Was it a person? Well, yeah, who else? But what did they want? Should she answer? Just stay there? Curiosity and fear wrestled in her mind undeciding.
What should I do?

Deciding that it was a long enough wait, he carefully opened the door.
At the sight, he almost felt guilty.
A small girl was crying hand in her lap, whimpering. "Don't look into my eyes… Just leave," she said, voice cracking. Prussia was just about to do that, but he saw her eyes.
They were red.
Just like his.
Prussia's breath hitched. What to do?

Mary, hearing the boy gasp, she looked up. His eyes met hers. They were both silent.

"Red eyes…" Prussia started.
~0~
"Just like mine." Mary replied.

It was a normal day in Japan for Mary. She followed her friends around the streets, smiling at the scene. Her noticed a flash of white hair, to find red eyes staring at her.

Prussia laughed as he and the other nations left the restaurant. Who knew that America had blackmail pictures for almost every single country?
Out of the corner of his eyes, he saw a flash of red and white, and stared at the girl who they belonged to. Was it really…?
~0~
Before she even knew it, she walked towards the boy, ignoring the rest of the world.

Prussia did the same, none of his friends stopping him.
~0~
"Hi Prussia. It's been a while.
"Likewise, Mary."
